Why would *desirable* be the point? Midlander and Highlander is quite different in looks, and culture, so why would it just be different shade/pattern?
Anyways, i think clans already have different starting gear. As for actual armors...doubt it, they would need to do a different look for each armor, for each clan; that's way to much work.

Discussion is regarding clans, not free companies. We're talking Dunesfolk and Hellsguard here.
A little off topic but sort of along the same lines.. I really wish they would cut holes in helms/chain head pieces for miqo ears instead of having these weird metal points..
Example:
This looks crappy (look at the ears)

This looks good (again the ears):

Click the images to enlarge.. Sorry that they are pretty crappy res & you can barely see what I am talking about, but I preferred not to wear head pieces, partly for this reason.
Race armor is a good idea, also I would like to see some more "cultural armor" like how you'll notice that some NPCs in Limsa are wearing navy like uniforms as an example, we need more of that but on a bigger scale.
I was somewhat disappointed when I saw that the Grand Company uniforms were the same in all 3 nations, even though the 3 leaders had very different looking styles that should have been in my opinion the "leader variety" of what the soldiers wore for each company.
While on the subject of clothes, am I the only one that would like a feature where Free company members get their gear dyed to match the FC's colors, when they wear the pearl for it?
