Screw SSD I just got me a 2 TB HD to hold all my games and porn and was done, i don;t need my games to load faster, loading screens gives me free time to view said porn or enjoy something outside the game!
(Seriously I got it only for the games because i see no real point in SSDs except for something to wave around for epeen. >.>)
Combined cost is $350, while i do agree it's a little heavy... it is well worth it. As for all the people against solid state drives, yes they are worth every penny. At home i only have 1 do to cost, but at work my PC has 3 and it is worth it. And quiet, no more of that jet engine sound every time you try to look in a folder...
Keith_ 2TB's disk drive for storage yes, for operations no... on my solid state i need seconds to copy/move GB's of data from one folder to another... any spiny spiny drive need's over 20min for same amount. After you go Solid state, rpm drives feel like the stone age.
If it was me, (and I have a lot of space in my computer) I'm leaving 1.0 alone until the full version of ARR is installed and all my character data is transfer, just to play it safe.
What safe is there to play? The only folder worth backing up is the one I mentioned, since it contains screenshots and a template of your character. Your actual character data is server-side and will be waiting for you come 2.0
ARR will use a completely new client, so no point in keeping 1.0 installed unless you've been logging on from time to time for the lulz or to watch cutscenes
Devs already answered this a while back. You're free to uninstall if you don't wish to play the 1.0 client anymore.
Your character data isn't stored on your hard drive. There is nothing to "play it safe" with. SE said you can uninstall, so you can uninstall. Uninstalling will leave behind your screenshots and other files created by the game anyway, so there is absolutely no reason not to uninstall unless you're just sentimental.Quote:

Your statement isn't completely correct; you are right that actual character data isn't stored on his drive, but he might have a saved character appearance data saved. That won't get deleted from an uninstall but it will if you format you use your ssd as a main and your current drive for storage...
Im sure others already covered it. It is a different client you will download. THe old game unless playing on the old servers, will no longer be used at all.
