    Transitioning from 1.0 to ARR (Dev Please Respond ASAP?)

    So if a Dev could answer this, or if it's already been answered by and someone posts a link that'd be wonderful.


    Basically, I'd just like to know if I should uninstall the game or not. As ARR will be shipped out to retailers as a brand new game, will those of us who have the original game simply just need to download a large patch file on launch day, or is it going to be an entirely new client in which case there'd be no point to keeping the original.


    Some clarification would be greatly appreciated as I don't want the original client to interfere with things (for example, in the original beta we were told to uninstall it after release of the main game) and it takes up a large chunk of space on my drive.

    After you done with FFXIV 1.0 then uninstall. 2.0 is a brand new client.

    Can uninstall. Just back up the data in your My Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV

    The data in there contains a template of your character should you want to roll a new one or load the settings to retweak things.

    i think you just have to save your character data if you want to use him for the graphic benchmark..

    as for ARR the settings are automatically ported into the ARR client.

    You can uninstall old version. A Realm Reborn is not a Patch! Is totally a new game with old data (our characters ) and you will need to download even a new client to play it.

    A Rep has already told us that we can uninstall the client as ARR will use a completely different client.

    Yes your main chara data gets ported. But the "template" is still an option if you want to roll a new character that you want to look similar but tweak a few settings.

    Kinda like what they did with 1.0 Beta > retail version.

    OP: game is 15GB's that's not that much space...
    I highly recommend:
    Main: SSD 520 Series SATA III Solid State Drive, 120GB
    Storage: 1TB Blue 7200rpm SATA III w/ 64MB Cache
