The real reason we need a way to either A) Turn off AA or B) Somehow stop attacking (without disengaging) is so that you don't accidentally break Sleeps, Binds, and other Crowd Control abilities.

they said their tweeking mobs. And was referanced to parties. If someone just uses AA and only AA kick them. (unless they have a reason for doing so like using the WC or feeding baby/kids or something)

But ya Thats a concern of mine to since (unless they change it also) ima be a melee/caster (which AA helps with that ^^) Thats a reason i didn't like doing endgame I wass stressing out over doing something stupid like break a bind or sleep.

Ahem. Most games that have Auto Attack also have an engage/disengage toggle. There's no need to remove autofacing.

you seem to think that facing away is in any way faster and more efficent than pressing a single button.

It is, unless the key bound to the "disengage button" is closer than the S key. >.>

Oh, and disengage usually involves putting your weapon away... which is not what we want to do.

Having AA is great in many differenct aspects but having AA with the cimbined feature of automatically facing your enemies can be a huge problem for those who do not want to be forced into waking a slept or bound mob. Considering AA is going to be "fast paced" then when rangers cast a shadowbind then it will be immediately broken before we can turn our character around (if they remove that feature)

Mages should be able to cast spells while facing any direction as long as the enemy is within range.

I know that SE has thought about this too and will hopefully rid this feature to implement anew but I just want to make sure this issue would be addressed along with the new change.

Yes, this was kind of a pain in eq2 when you would accidentally attack something the crowd control classes were trying to keep out of the fight. (though it more often happened to be aoe than autoattack, but some classes auto attacked very fast.)

changing direction so that a mob is completely out of the attack cone (because you can't have attacks hitting only *dead ahead* of the player, especially with autoface off), will always take more time than a single toggle.

Also, if you don't want to hit sleeping or bound targets, you can simply change target, which is even more efficent.

All you have to do is press S. You know, that key that makes you run backward? As long as there is no autofacing, you will turn around and stop attacking. And the key is "no autofacing".

But if they have a toggle specifically for AA (i.e. not a disengage button that puts your weapon away), that will be fine too.

That's only in some games. Many (I would say most) have S as a key to backpedal, not to do a U-turn. Which is IMHO the best solution, by the way, considering that backpedaling is quite an important feature (for instance to pull a mob out of the aggro area of an incoming second mob without being slammed in the back).

Well, in FFXIV, if you're locked on, you backpedal. If you're not locked on, you turn backwards. It's the same in FFXI.

But again, moot point as long as they add a "start AA/stop AA" button you can toggle.
