Regarding Auto-Crafting

I just imagine rmt would take advantage of any kind of logged out, auto crafting by having multiple accounts crafting and that would hurt the economy for us legitimate players. I like the alternative system you mentioned though. Thanks for the heads up Oki.

I just hope that if someone makes 50 of something in one go it only counts as one towards the achievements and not 50...

logout-crafting is stupid anyways. Make em stay logged in to do it.

Maybe your retainer can or a mog or something. But can only craft items 1 level lower than you and no exp gains. Basically a Hasty Hand robot.

I do NOT like this idea.

I can't see any logical reason why this would be necessary, and I can see how this will be exploited. Crafting is hard work, it should remain that way.

Any automation could be used by RMT so SE needs to tread carefully.
However, from legitimate players, there is a valid desire to make certain crafting actions less of a chore.

When your level is much higher than the recipe you get no experience from it. And when you are Level 50 in multiple crafts, everything except trying to HQ something is of not much interest.

Perhaps at that point it would be nice to have an "easy crafting" option where you can batch craft more items than we can with the current system.

I don't want SE to make things too easy, and especially not things that will benefit RMT most. But if they implement a well-thought out easy crafting system then maybe I can finally clear out stacks of flax, fleece, and iron ore that I've been meaning to get to "one of these days" when not busy with LS events.

There is nothing hard about crafting. It is incredibly tedious. If you're levelling up, sure, I can see why you need to manually craft. However, if I'm mass producing ice shards or something, I should be able to automatically do it without the minigame.

HQ crafting should not be automated, but don't mind an improved Hasty-Hand. (i.e automated but 0 chance of HQ)

As part of my work, I've had to learn some automation to implement in GUI testing.

I can safely say that anyone who has the interest in learning how to automate crafting and has an inclination towards using it as an unfair advantage (cheaters) can easily figure out how to write a script to automate simple synths, so I don't think that having SE making a legal way to do it would make that much of an impact.

That being said, I spent about 2 hours hasty handing shards from fish since I was running out and was kinda poor. The process left me feeling as if my brain was going to start bleeding out of my nose. The only thing I noticed in this extended session of boredom was that the system auto-booted me from the crafting interface presumably while taking somekind of information to determine whether I was an RMT or bot every now and then (since I'm thinking that it would be VERY easy to script around that kind of occurence if it only takes you out of the crafting interface).

Anyhow, I'd certainly appreciate being able to setup somekind of way to make automatic crafting. I wouldn't mind it having a higher chance of failure if I can avoid spamming enter and arrow up for 2 hours just for some shards. Perhaps they can keep flagging accounts to notice if some users are doing this 24/7?
