Job Idea: Aethochemist (Healer)

A chemist type healer has always been a popular request. And I'll gleefully add my voice to that!

I think the idea that healers need to be magical is more a limitation that the devs initially set by slotting healers next to casters with how achievements work. There isn't actually anything in the lore of the universe that prevents it, but having a potion focussed healer would have some aesthetic traits closer to what is expected from physical ranged jobs.

What I know was said was Sage actually came out of the devs experimenting with a Chemist concept. It's hilarious and terrifying to realize that noulithes were initially conceived as syringes, but apparently they were!

I like the idea of a chemist via more magical means but that aesthetic shared in OP really isn't to my taste and I personally wouldn't touch it.

Maybe the game is just going in a different direction from what I joined it for, and I really am starting to grow tired of the oversaturation of heavy scifi elements without the fantasy. I tolerated and even enjoyed it before (Allagans, Garleans) but now it just seems... too much.

So. Do I support this idea? Not really, at least not how it aesthetically stands based on the pictures. Am I one voice in a crowd of folks who probably favor scifi given that just seems to be the game direction now? Yeah. :/

I'm so mad that Machinist now uses mega sci-fi energy lasers in DT stuff and has taking a hard shift from the fun steampunk gunslinger.

This is the problem all healers fit one general aesthetic of a backline mage, Healers could be so much more interesting if they actually tried to do something unique with them. Even sage feels very inline with other healers despite the slightly more interesting visuals and attempt at something new (gameplay wise it's just worse scholar).

If they want to appeal to a broader amount of players they have to make a healer feel fundamentally different from the rest which is unlikely because job design has been very poor for a long time.

I know people are quite attached to the idea of a Chemist as a healer, but wouldn't it perhaps make more sense in gameplay and design for a Chemist to be a ranged DPS?
They could focus mostly on poisons and other chemicals to help with battle. Even have a bit of a supportive utlity in their kit much like a red mage, (Heal, Raise, Esuna).

I'd go as far as to say it's only of the more likely jobs we get in 8.0 for that role.

It would be a 1 button dps healer with 1 dot of 50 potency, 10000 useless and bloated healing spells. Have fun!
