    Job Idea: Aethochemist (Healer)

    Aethochemist (ACH)
Pure Burst Healer with Delayed Heals and Resource Mixing
    Weapons: Hand Cannons
    Limit Break: Lapis Philosophorum
Inspiration: Cannoneer from V and Tactics A2, Chemist from V and Tactics, Alchemist from X-2, Flintlocks from Tactics A2, IRL Alchemy terms

    TL;DR version
    • Chemists/Alchemists battle medics that launch potions at your face with hand cannons
    • Place healing bombs on partymembers that go off when they reach 50% HP or lower, their timers run out, or you manually set them off
    • Use a special stance to change your basic GCD heals into ones that place healing bombs
    • Collect two different types of “Item Shells” from your GCDs. You can then mix two of these shells for varying effects

    Skills and Mechanics
    Button Count: 22

    Gauge(s)
Item Shell Slots: Two boxes show which Item Shells the user currently has stored. The Left box shows the most recent, the right showing the older.
Mixed Slot: A third box to the right of the Item Shell Slots that shows what effect the two Item Shells the user has will produce with the Mix Ability.
Triage Monitor: A light that turns on when the user has Field Triage Activated

    Item Shells and Mixing
When the player uses certain skills, they gain an Item Shell that corresponds to the type of skill they just used:
    • Potion Mortar, Potion Salvo, Emergency Hi-Potion, and Emergency Potion Salvo grant Potion Shells
    • Blast Mortar, Sunburst, Vitriol Shell, and Scatterburst grant Grenade Shells
These shells can then be used for various skills.
Item Shells can only be gained during battle.

    Item Shell Skills
Mix: Ability, 2 charges. Can only be used when the user has 2 Item Shells stored. Uses up the 2 Item Shells the user has stored and combines them. The effect varies depending on the combination of shells. Instant cast time, 60 second cooldown.
    Mix Effects
    ○ Potion Shell x2: Aqua Vitae: Heal a selected target (700).
    ○ Potion Shell + Grenade Shell: Alkahest: Heals all partymembers within 20-yalms of the user (250) and heals them over 15 seconds (150).
    ○ Grenade Shell x2: Pineapple: Damage a target and all enemies within 8-yalms of them (600 for the first target, 40% less for the remaining).
Dispensary: Ability. Can only be used while the user is holding an Item Shell. Use up the user’s oldest Item Shell. The effect varies depending on the type of shell. Instant cast time, 30 second cooldown.
Potion Shell: Grants a healing over time effect on a targeted player for 18 seconds (400).
Grenade Shell: Increases the damage the user next 2 weaponskills deal by 3% (duration: 15 seconds).
Shell Transmutation: Ability. Has 2 charges. Changes the user’s oldest Item Shell to the other. Instant cast time, 60 second

    Vital Bursts
Vital Burst is an effect several of the Aethochemist’s skills can place on a target that last for 15 seconds, healing them when their HP reached 50% or less, when the effect timer ends, or when the user manually detonates all Vital Burst effects they’ve placed via the Burst Projection ability. Vital Bursts have their own potencies and Vital Burst with stronger potencies overwrite one with weaker potencies.

    Field Triage
Using the ability Field Triage, the user can augment their two basic GCD healing spells, allowing them to place Vital Burst effects. These different versions replace the original skill on the hotbar and cannot be manually placed.

    There, posted it. ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ✩‧₊˚
The second of the job ideas I made while on break (the other being Puppetmaster), this one being a reworking of my long-running Cannoneer/Medic ideas.
As with my original Medic posting, I wanted to create a more action-packed, fast paced healer that's less delicate and gruffer then the other healers.

without fun jobs none of the content is fun!
jobs should have their full rotations on lvl 60 or 70! for a better low lvl experience.
for satisfying glam builduing we need 5 basic glamplates + 2 more for each class / job
pls give us a proper glam collection like every other mmo has.
pls upgrade the gear from normal raid and also alliance-raid by 10 ilvl each.
pls add old glowy ex trial weapons for new jobs!
and for gods sake pls give as the ability to preview any hairstyle on our own character!

With my design, I wanted it to still be magical (using IRL alchemy ideas for theming) but just less genteel about it. ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª

I don't remember hearing this at all. I've not read every interview Yoshida's ever done but I've been pretty glued to PLL's since at least 2013 and any events he's been part of. You wouldn't happen to know where, or at the very least when, that was said? 'cause their attempts at Chemist would indicate different priorities.

sry i rarely ever remember where exactly i learned about stuff. it might have been sidetalk during a LL or in one of his countless interviews. i started paying attention to these things around ShB release but i guess this doesnt really help.
it came up at some point though and i was like: 'wait there is an alchemy-npc in ARR (thaumaturg quest) who specifically cant use magic but uses the heal aqua vitae, just use that for a non-magic healer'

I'm more of a proponent of the classic FFV style Chemist, but I do agree one needs to be in the game in some form.

It would be easy for them to make a non-magic based healer by tying it's lore to the Garleans.

They more than likely had some kind of combat medics before they had other races that could use healing magic working with them, and they would have likely used a mixture of magitek and alchemy.

Same, granted I wanted to go with the more iconic Tactic's style. (*´∀`*) ~♥
With this version of my job idea, I really wanted it to feel like you were collecting items via the Item Shell system to either use on your Dispensary or Emergency Ether abilities or Mixing them with Mix. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
