I much prefer jobs being completely separate. Cross skills only encourage people to play jobs they care nothing about to complete their own. I see it as chore list content. The players are given a task they need to do even if they'd rather do something else. From a lore perspective, why couldn't job A learn a needed skill as job A anyway? Does a PLD need to hold a cane to cast a healing spell?
Changing up the stale content formula is something I can support though. Rigid burst times and scripted fights are boring and they're creating a feedback loop that makes jobs and fights even worse with time. We need more free form and unpredictable content which should allow jobs to move away from the mandate of needing to meet some arbitrary 10 minute DPS average above all else.
