With 2,322 posts and your hints of not understanding sexual references, let's just say I'm not surprised you don't get it
I do understand sexual references. I don't find these lyrics "extreme" sexual content, since maybe I'm not the one easily shocked into pearl clutching and believing this to be an X-rated song or anything beyond PG-13.
I also find this to be a poor argument as to why you shouldn't have been warned after someone reported you for insulting another player.
So what's the actual hypocrisy here?
It does unfortunately come off a bit puritanical to tell players not to be dirty with each other as we have zero way of knowing who is on the other side of the screen while a song so openly suggestive is added, but it GENUINELY is good advice. SE won't protect you if you say something that crosses a line with another player, and yes, said player could be a minor.
Sinister is all innuendo, but it's SE that's put it out and it's inevitably very different when mega corp releases a song that could be kinky verses me making a sexual comment to an unknown player.
You’re wrong, because the game was originally rated 15+, which corresponds to PEGI 16+ in the EU.
I don’t know what the equivalent rating is called in the US.
It’s not Square Enix’s fault if other countries ignore that age classification and rate it wrong. This game
was never intended for children.
I live in one of the few countries where it’s even crazier. Germany rated it 12+. :'D
Now think about the DT laboratory dungeon. A full-on Silent Hill–style environment filled with dead, partially
mutilated bodies.
I tried to contact the authority in my country to have the age rating corrected, because it’s clearly wrong. But
due to pointless bureaucracy, that’s apparently not possible. xD
It's not an issue, because you can't make out 60% of the lyrics without a lyric video
ya sorry no thats a white knight defense, the fact is they kinda don't have the right to have those rules due to one simple fact, their rating https://www.esrb.org/ratings/29479/final-fantasy-xiv/ actively goes against their own rules so I'm sorry hell no if we can't do it nor can your npcs and songs. and have been for years, having a rule just because someone feels bad doesn't give reason to that rule, period. more so if you dont like it don't read it mute those words/black list use your own tools...
and don't even say its rated for 13 year olds plus I been saying and doing things that make most adults feel uncomfortable since i was 12 lol your not protecting anyone with that bs lol
As for respect: sorry, no respect isn't automatically given, hell, I don't respect anyone outside maybe 6 people for the simple fact they are human.
Here's the funny thing, it's actually worse for a big corporation to do it because it's their own written rules they're going against, big difference between a random person saying something bad who has nothing to do with the rules. It's cool if you do it, but don't expect us to follow your rules if you won't even follow your own rules
This is PG-13
PG-13 can have risky language, sexual situations, drugs, or lower key violence.
That GM either is wrong or you aren't telling the full story there, as often happens with the "I was reported for this completely innocent thing" here.
ive legit had a ban for just saying the thing the avarage person says when frustrated on the street the go f yourself .. so no I believe them with how the avarage player is so pathetic they will report over any little thing because they didnt like it, or get on the high horse on the rules... you want proof of that

gms/community are pathic over small things to scared of being upset by "anything" negative and its pathetic I'm sorry this is to softcore bs over small things with the rules themself the way they are written are horrible, that people will legit nick pick a word or to because they either a. Dont like you or B. hate your viewpoint/thoughts and will weaponize the rules
which yes does happan if you are outside the box in any shape or form online anymore people get on their high horse and weaponize bs rules and stuff
legit all was said was telling someone to f off, and the gms weaponize the rules of oh "you were creating a negative impact bs" when no i was frustrated and telling someone to just go away thats not negative lol
Okay so this is pretty open and shut. You referred to another player as a human dog, then told them to go f themself. And you're...comparing it to a risque song?
Allow me to help. The words you said were not the problem individually, the way you said them and directed them at another player was the problem. Be a better person because you're not on the street, you're in a game they own and broke social rules they made.
Just to piggyback off this, PG-13 rating rules are extremely inconsistent on what they actually enforce and the entire entertainment industry has been dancing around them for decades. Perhaps one of the more infamous examples is Titanic. You're allowed seven seconds of nudity which is why James Cameron deliberately chooses very specific angles to stretch that limit because "it's not technically showing anything." Another tactic film directors use is to flood as much overly risque content as they can get away with in the hopes whoever reviews it overlooks the stuff they actually want in their movie or game. FFXIV actually does this with its own infamous Tesleen scene. From Yoshida's own admission that scene was much worse.
Sinister doesn't even come close to PG-13 restrictions nor would quoting the lyrics provided you weren't openly being sexual about it. "Step on me, mommy" isn't going to get you in trouble. Randomly sending that tell to someone idling in Limsa might though.
I'm also inclined to OP isn't being entirely honest. There's no chance a GM dragged them into gaol over calling someone "cringe." If they did, you got a GM on a particular bad day because they'd be hi-fiving Mars to make that stretch work even as flaming, let alone anything else.
