I would very much like them to just remove gender locking entirely on everything. Let my bunny boy be girly!
-
Why do they keep adding gender locked content years after they committed to start un-genderlocking things?? You'd think there was some major disagreement or misunderstanding within management or something at this point...

It's so strange to me that they've been declaring that they're committed to remove gender locks in so much of this game but still insist on locking things to certain genders. I want my Au Ra character to do the fem animation — it fits his personality, even if he isn't "girly"! I can't really imagine him doing the masc animation. And I think many players deserve to have that choice!

Commenting in support of this. A lot of the time the gendered emotes just don't fit my characters and their vibe and it really sucks :( being able to choose would be so much better.

Commenting in support of this. I don't understand genderlocking emotes (or even clothes) in 2025. Can we let people express themselves how they want please. Often the fem emote doesn't fit how I imagine my character acting.

Adding my support to this! I play with a female viera model but my viera is very gender-non-conforming. While the female emote is very cute I would much prefer the male equivalent on my character. I am so tired of emotes being locked by gender, I am tired of seeing my peers playing with male characters having emotes that I want but then I get disappointed when I get it myself and the animation is very different (Very much the same for gear pieces, with the Neo-Ishgardian fits being the worst contender)
Please either stop making gendered emotes or let us have two different versions!

could the height also affect the emote?

The genderlocked stuff is especially frustrating as a female highlander player. To me fem highlanders are pretty tomboyish in their look and animations so it's incredibly jarring when she's forced to do a "cute" emote or pose. I think it's a very good thing that there are masculine and feminine versions of outfits and emotes but you should always get to pick which one you want to use. I've been asking for the same thing in regard to outfits in a separate thread for quite some time.

100%. Please make both poses available to all characters!

I really wish things weren't gender-locked in general, but especially clothing and emotes. /eatpizza and /eatapple also stand out as needlessly different between genders, off the top of my head. It'd be great to be able to unlock both emotes as distinct emotes - anything to add more options when socializing and gposing!
