I mean this was right before 7.0 right?
It already contradicts itself back then because 7.0 had some Massive Simplification
1. raid buffs becoming 20s (ontop of already all being 2ms thanks EW)
2. Ast card system removed all RNG
3. Monk now having basically no fail state as the rotation tells you exactly what to press.
4. Dragoon changes
5. Black mage getting simplified (the first time)
When are we going to wake up and realise 8.0 isn't going to change anything for the better in terms of job design, we've seen the direction for years upon years.
I think people really underestimate how long it takes them to make changes. They just don't change things willy-nilly. The plan was that in 7.0 they change up encounter design in response to feedback, which Yoshida has said we will really only start to see now and then in 8.0 job changes are coming.
Personally I'm afraid because I like how White Mage is right now and I'm terrified they are going to listen to feedback and add some kind of rotation to White Mage that I won't like. But we all have to wait and see.
Yoshi-P publicly announced that this was a mistranslation and that he did not say that at all.

"About 3 days ago, on GamesRadar I believe. We're assuming that the person who interviewed Yoshida was different from the person who was actually editing the article. But there was mention about how we wanted to focus on evolving as an MMO, and Yoshida was talking about how we were going to enhance the gameplay, especially from 7.2 and beyond. And then, after all of that has concluded, we would look into kind of adjusting the jobs. And for some reason, the article kind of misconstrued it, and it made it sound like we would start applying drastic changes to jobs from 7.2 and beyond. And that got amplified by certain prominent Black Mage players. So, in this case itself the source was inaccurate, so I just wanted to clarify that as well."
So what they meant was they were enhancing the gameplay (aka battles) in Dawntrail, especially from 7.2 because the first tier is always easy, and then after all that is done (we know from other interviews they mean 8.0), they will look at the jobs. The article writer misinterpreted it as jobs that would change from 7.2, when they meant the battles would.
You... know what Square Enix does to unprofitable online games, right? Spoiler, it is not fixing them.
Also, you are assuming that I have not already drastically reduced the amount of money I spend on this game as an answer to the current state. I used to have multiple additional retainers and a bigger subscription. Now that I mostly play PVP, there is no need for all that. Still I would like to find enjoyment in other parts of the game again, enjoyment that used to be there before things were changed. With the lack of a proper exit questionare when cancelling a sub though, CS3 will never know exactly why people unsubscribe.
Maybe one day I'll get fully bored of PVP too, and then my sub will be gone.
I do not see him pulling back on the "jobs will not get more simple" statement here. What was corrected was that the article was writing something about changes to jobs coming from 7.2 onward, which has already been accepted widely by the community and is not being pressed against.
Enhancing battles only does not automatically also mean "gutting classes".
I think part of the individuality is keeping some classes more simple that others.
With 4 healers, we could totally have a wider range of complexity as part of the dps rotation instead of having 4 times exactly the same one.
WHM will most likely remains on the simple side (heck i've stopped believing at ever getting a 3rd button as any healer)
I thematically prefer white mage the most out of the healers, so I'd be disappointed if they gave the other healers cool damage stuff but left out the job, but at the end of the day I'd be happy theirs just actual fun healers so I much rather that then nothing.
Though all SE needs to do is turn Paladins into healers and I'll finally stop complaining until i realise i got one damage button
I think it's called lip service, and he is very good at it.
