I'm unsubbing over the Viper changes

"oh no~! i have one less thing to do in a really easy job. and it got buffed across the board this patch. i hate this game and the devs hate me" is all i can hear in this post.

oh my lord cry me a river, this is a joke right? yet another useless post that could have been commented on else where. But we'll see you next patch :3 bye bye for now.

Number go up isn't necessarily the same as a good designed job. If the minute to minute gameplay is boring it can crit for 500% and I wouldn't care.

To the OP, as an AST main I know the pain. lol Me and my mates have all been playing for a couple of years and longer and all of us said we'll take a prolonged break after DT. It's just too boring and monotonous. I don't have enough time to raid, so it's dungeon corridors, fetch quests and being bored when I play green D

I guaranteed you un-subbing helps to punish companies like Square Enix.

Just like what happened in 1.0.

If you are not enjoying yourself, feeling burnt out and felt strongly that they messed up this game so badly, unsub!

I'm always in favor of people quitting if they truly aren't enjoying the game anymore. Life's too short to play a videogame you aren't having fun with.

I think this is my first time posting on these forums (at least in a long while), and I agree with the OP. This is literally the most disappointing job change I've seen, and I've been here since HW and used to main stance-dancing WAR before they took it away. I have also been an off-and-on MNK main until these last two expansions kind of ruined it for me.

For those of you who don't get it, some of us actually like having choices in our gameplay. The choices don't have to be hard, they just have to be engaging enough to be fun, and the old VPR/MNK flexible combos were just that for me with their little optimizations. It's like dialogue choices...it's great if they are super meaningful, but they don't have to be to be enjoyable.

In particular, I was looking forward to using VPR in the new Field Exploration. I love both Eureka and Bozja (especially on MNK and VPR). For those of you who don't know, those zones can give you Haste gear, which with flexible combos (like VPR and MNK used to have) means you get to have all sorts of fun figuring out your combos to minmax buffs and debuffs.

Now, not only can VPR *not* do that (because they removed its flexible combos), but since they gave VPR a new buff (to track whether you should start with Honed or Reaving) in Eureka/Bozja you are significantly more likely to overcap buffs (which means you likely will in the new Field Exploration too)...and if you overcap buffs on VPR you literally can lose some of your oGCD follow-up attacks.

So, yes, it does feel almost like this change was almost perfectly targeted to dampen my enjoyment of the game. It has some benefits (particularly in dungeons where swapping ST/AoE is easier and you can now plan out triple Reawakens to make harder segments faster), but man does it feel bad when you lose one of your favorite jobs and then lose the *same mechanic you loved* on your replacement job a month later.

I honestly thought they did a great job with PCT and VPR. Was actually impressed and both new jobs shot to the top of my interest list.

New Viper is so incredibly boring, it's like night and day. And heaven forbid you end up in some pre-90 content where you now have nothing to do at all but press glowing buttons and not even that many of them. Just suffered through a level 80 Nier raid and died due to falling asleep out of boredom. I literally was scouring my bar for ANYTHING else to do and there was nothing to be had.

Anyone who says the job still plays the same played it wrong before the patch.

Me.
I’m particularly annoyed because viper was the only dex/aiming job I had any interest in so I can’t use the gear for anything else.
Not like it’s time limited tome or anything though
