The New Trailer

I think that actually experiencing the storyline for yourself, as in playing a part in it and doing quests that affect the outcome, is way better than a 1-and-a-half-minute video explaining what happened.

New players won't get to experience the things like Dalamud getting closer with each path, the weird weather, subtle landscape changes, etc. You'll be able to say you were there when the Garleans attacked. All the new players get is a video.

Ah I see. You feel the need to be compensated for the fact that you're paying for an unfinished game. I agree, but you have to factor in that more people, pc and ps3, will be joining in and we cant just keep storylines to ourselves lol.

I think you're making a bigger deal than it should be though. Maybe they will add a little something for us.

Just as you can't make us see what you think is wrong, I probably can't make you see just how little they actually explained in the trailer. Either you weren't paying attention or skipped through all the text or something, or you just don't understand exactly what's been going on. I think they've done a fine job at explaining the Garlean invasion thus far. Sure, I wish there were a bit more going on, but that's to be expected since they've been working on 2.0 at the same time.

This is what WE paid for. This was supposed to be our reward for paying to play. The trailer summed up what happened in the game better than what the story tells us in-game.

What do you expect SE to do when new players join after 2.0 hits? "Some stuff happened in the past, but since you weren't there for it, you don't get to know." That's absurd! The reward for staying a subscriber was to be able to experience the events first-hand, but that doesn't give us the exclusive rights to know what happened.

I actually felt put off by the trailer too. I am enjoying 1.2.3, but this is starting to remind me of ff 9 the first disc was great, the second disc was all about epic battles, I actually kinda like how 1.0's story isn't as super human as other ff games are. Then again I haven't gotten that far into the story... But the 2.0 we're all preserved by some force and then brought back seems well I'd rather be a survivor than encased in athereyte. That said, will definitely keep it up and 2.0 might surprise and if it is a world of constant high level battles then my little conjuror will not be needing of work. Also the story spoiled is very minimal, that might be why it disappoints. The writing so far in the game has been above the level of most mmos.

Don't act like a kid. You're not entitled to anything at all, read the terms of services. SE can do as they please with their game, plus, the promise to us, paying customers, was to experience first hand how the story unfolds, nothing more, nothing about the story being kept secret to the public, etc.

The only thing people not playing get to see is a trailer that vaguely explains what will happen when the servers are turned off.

You mentioned you didn't like much how everything has been presented except for two or three cut scenes... Well... I really don't know what to say to that :p

Personally I have completed nearly every sidequest and the main quests and have read the text, so I feel like the world is pretty well put together and the writing has been good. The trailer didn't tell nearly as much as happened in game, but the cinematics were nice so I understand if you felt more impacted by it.

Shh, quiet! We can't tell any of the new players what happened.

They don't get to EXPERIENCE it. They get to see 'this is what happened'. But they don't get the proud feeling of having BEEN there and seen it first hand and play a role in it.

Hmm OP seems to think that getting told a story is the same thing as experiencing said story. I pity you, really.

We get to live the empire attack they get to see a video showing small part of it. We get to see Dalamud growing each patch from the first day it turn red and we asking wtf is going on? too the last fight. If you mad becuase they show information that new players need to know get use to it they need to know we get to live it they just get information...

top of that you can see every CS on youtube at the end they only see a video we fight and live the story.
