For casters RDM was supposed to be the simple easy caster-lite job, then they just made SMN into a glorified physical ranged with none of the complexity. And mind you physical ranged does not have a lot of complexity to begin with - And you'd think it would when they don't have to worry about movement downtime. As for melee, DRG, which used to be considered a good middle of the road entry point, is now considered only below Ninja in complexity (and it's not that DRG suddenly became complex).
You really only have Ninja and Black Mage left if you want to play a "complicated" job (and it seems they are trying to kill any kind of rotational wiggle-room for BLM, something that won't make it even easier to play but definitely simpler and less expressive, forcing you to stick to a strict unchanging rotation no matter what, even if fight mechanics make it more intuitive to adjust your number of Fire IV casts from time to time).
So no, liking simple jobs isn't bad. Asking that every job should cater to you would be, rather than having a gradient of complexity you can enjoy regardless of what kind of player you are. Or what kind of day you might be having. Unfortunately right now the game skews hard one way and is trending only further.
