7.0 BLM Changes will kill the job

I understand their concept academically, I'm able to comprehend how most of them work, but just executing them beyond the very basic ones like transpose F3 proc just looks like something only AIs could do on the fly.

Good to know either way. I wouldn't wish on anybody to see the intricacies of their job being removed from under them.

Seems to me the design here is that they want it to enforce a method of play. That method being, "cast ice spells during your umbral phase". Forcing you to cast ice spells to recover MP is a surefire way to do it.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this change. Kind of reminds me of times like back in heavensward a bit. Though, I do believe I saw umbral soul also grant 3 umbral hearts rather than 1, which is neat.

I look forward to the changes personally since I prefer the more standard gameplay and this should be beneficial for it at a glance. I just want BLM to feel less like I am griefing to prog with one.

I was planning to look into more nonstandard gameplay this summer when I had more free time but I suppose for most of it I needn't bother anymore. I'm not super sad about some of it going away but I DO care that the devs keep in mind that a hard caster still exists in this game when designing their encounters. Because at times it feels like it's not even an afterthought.

Excited to try it out but I don't think it will kill the job, and given how beloved it is to Yoshi P if it proves too detrimental I am sure we see changes.

I think that killing job optimization isn't an unforeseen side effect of any of the job changes, it's a goal. Monks choosing their next weaponskill based on buff timers? Remove timers and make the intended path the only path. Samurais using meikyo to sync the timing of their iaiutsus to raid buffs? Make meikyo automatically prepare tsubame. SE wants the skill ceiling as close to the skill floor as they can get it.

Its been like this since Stormblood. Every new expansion is a chance for them to change course. It wasn't this one.

Absolutely, I'm unsubbing once I'm done with MSQ.

And it's not just because of this needless adjustment to BLM, it's because the devs have made it very clear where they stand and saying "wait until 8.0" is an absolute slap in the face.

Whether or not an individual is capable does not mean that no one else was.

Standard was more than enough to complete content, so having non-standard not only be viable but capable of pushing further means that the job maintains several tiers of mastery, which is what we should want for all jobs. An easily understood baseline that allows one to clear content, and then multiple tiers of mastery allowing them to pursue further if they wish.

Agreed, The Passive Regen is also what kinda clues into (New BLM) players of how their ticks are doing, or how it works with the class. As you can Visually See when the MP ticks compared to the time of your rotation, or if it Regens as soon as you fire cast finishes(or does not).

This is literally placing a bar into All Levels of Black Mage Play(Be it Novice or Mastery)

I mean considering Yoshi p mains the job… I don’t think he would screw around with his baby that much… these are knee jerk reactions when we don’t know the finer changes it’s just broad changes and also it’s just people screaming because people don’t like change regardless if it benefits others more or less then in its current state.

Honestly, Think About it, The new gauge shows fire stacks being slotted into them.

if we are able to stack ice into them into the future, then it's just gonna be forced Bull.

More so when they are killing space for mastery with the reduction of MP Regen.

They need to give a reason why players will choose to Stack Ice or Revert to Fire.

It adds more adjustable rotations, without denying the option the most likely want players to benifit/follow.

But Again, MP regen removal is Complete Bull.
