Sounds like someone who wants to speak to a manager.
For me, having to apologize in the form of monetary compensation has little to do with me wanting 2 days worth of sub back, and more to do with companies needing to be held accountable for their service. I can guarantee if they had a more robust architecture and had spent a good amount of money/time on trying to defend against this sort of attack, it wouldn't be nearly as bad as it's been. But they don't.
If they had spent a lot of money and time on protecting against DDoS attacks, they could have mitigated the problems significantly. Sure.
That would be a LOT of expensive hardware and network bandwidth sitting unused during normal times when there are no attacks going on.
Would you like much higher subscription prices to pay for all those resources that sit unused 99% of the time?
Don't know if you've been playing that long, and I don't disagree, but SE has an unfortunately rock-solid history of never pro-rating or comping extra sub time when the game is borked, for any reason.
Does the 7 days added during the Endwalker launch congestion not count as extra sub time compensation? https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...a8505e75541ab1
And there's probably a few more examples, but this is a relatively recent one.
