This is second time you put words into my mouth.
I don't play with premade or Q sync for my two characters
But I do agree it is people's freedom to play with friends and I am not against it.

I also find it strange because I usually don't public support or against premade; not to mention I haven't even brought up premade once in this thread.
Am I dealing with a forum Karen here?

Just FYI, I don't join or against idea of premade and I have dealt with 8 men premade before the changes
I cant help your problem of butt hurt from getting stomped by organized game play when it is already water down.

The point I am making is to tell people learn and adopt like my usual tone.
By all mean, put in effort to bring back Shattered 1.0, I would be more happy.
Unfortunately, SE never reverse changes since FF14 PvP exists

yes its not fun to be stomped by a obvious premade and the pug(the team you are in?) spreading all over the map, or people not caring to win
aka the reasons lowscore third place happens
just break q sync and put premades in their own separate instances(with the amount of folks playing for the battlepass thingy i doubt it will make queue times longer)
this applies to ALL frontline maps not just the new shatter
and a FYI feeding the enemy teams free kills and points is how you lose/get a lowscore third place not a fan of this

i know also bad matchmaking can lead to those things happening if such a thing exists for the frontlines?

Not defending Premade but the truth is a good percentage of casuals caused it
There is always casual who said following:
"You don't pay my sub"
"I am just here to gin exp"
"I am just here to do duty roulette"
"Just let (insert name of GC) win so I can get out here quickly"

These casuals ruined the experience of others who want to enjoy Frontline experience because they are lacking the idea to respect others that also joined the mode.
These causals will push those who want to play Frontline and pushed them into corner and form premade
There is no Devs can fix that because this corruption comes within the player community

These type of casuals are the cancer but you can't do anything about it

I expect a PVP game mode to ENCOURAGE people to kill one another AND fight over objectives rather than encouraging them to PVE, without battle high you're relying that the other two teams will never turn on you and without BH you'll most likely get rolled. If you can't see the design flaw that a PVP map is trying to force your hand to ignore PVP and PVE then I don't know what to tell you, I'll let you figure that out

when they remove the rewards for lowscore third losses they gonna start trying to win and thats better

Even if this mode is modified (and if, for example PVP point contribution was again increased, I would be in favour of that) , it would still have objectives, as with all FL modes. None of them are "last man standing".

Have you ever seen a casino slot tournament? Typically it involves rows of people sitting in front of a machine mashing a button as fast as they can for several minutes. I realized biffing ice in Shatter reminds me of that. I really like objective-based PvP, but there's just something about the ice objectives that turns me off.

I haven't seen a tournament, just casinos, so I would find the analogy to bit extreme- you're looking at comparing someone spending literally hours at a time in front a slot machine and a 15- 20 minute PVP/PVE encounter.

However, it gets a pretty good image across of how time is spent on the crystals, and I don't know how to improve it- maybe just spawn one big one in the center, to force more PVP? The only games where that woked were once with static factions, not some random alliances thrown together, let alone a 3 alliance mode. Might be fun, who knows.
