No, you didn't. In FF11 you had magic resist and elemental resistances, both which acted in the same way as magic evasion.
There was no real magic defence stat that would increase naturally as you leveled, like your defence would. The result of this was that a level 60 mob could take away 50% of your HP with a spell even if you were level 80+, if you were unlucky and didn't resist or partially resist (evade) it. Of course, you would resist and partially resist more often, but this is still unbalanced in regards to physical attacks, where you can both evade the attacks, and take less damage when you fail to evade them. It's not like it was impossible to fight mage mobs of a lower level than you, but you basically had to have a stun ready to stop whatever they were casting, if you wanted to kill them with any sort of efficiency. That meant most melee jobs were SOL until dnc was implemented. Unless they had leveled drk and subbed that.
Of course, you would get a tiny bit of magical defense from your mnd stat, but ask a mnk how much def he gets from his vit with counterstance up, and you'll understand how much magic defence your mnd would give you.
Defensive stats in 11 were:
physical - magical
vit - mnd
evasion - magic resist (includes elemental resist)
defense - nothing
The only thing that resembles magical defence is "-magical damage taken", but the physical equivalent of this isn't "defence", it's "-physical damage taken". This is also a stat that doesn't increase naturally as you level up, like all other defensive stats do.
tl;dr: Neither FF11 or FF14 has a proper mdef stat, and I wish both got one.
