In FFXI, reraise was a staple to the game for sure. It was whm only, until later when they raised the level cap and it was available if you set your subjob as Whm. However, in XI the stakes were much higher in fights. If your party wiped with no reraise, your only option was to homepoint. You wouldn't restart at the beginning like in XIV. Most of the fights in XI were either hard/expensive to start, or rare world spaws, so losing it entirely sucked.
It would be a neat ability to have for healers in XIV, but the way the game is made it's really not necessary.
