Need advice: static imploding because of cheater.

Honestly, I don't get the whole holding someone back argument. If I do I fight I want to do it without cheating. Obviously, you need to find like-minded people. But it's weird to assume that everyone wants to cheat all the time, too. You're also 'holding someone back' if their account gets banned because of you. There is (at least) two sides to everything.

It was a kneejerk reaction that affected 6 other people. You could and should have talked about with the person itself as well as the other 6 that would get affected by whatever decision you made.
You could've also told the member that you ended up kicking that you'll have no things like zoomhacks in this static and give them a chance to simply stop using it and it would've been fine.
Decisions like these need to be discussed with everyone.

There is literally no such thing, an entire static wont get banned of one person's actions. Even the ones who ""cheated"" their way to world first just had to remove the totems and other rewards.

As much as I agree with this it might have turned to a situation like with UNAMED_ where someone(besides OP) got mad and reported the thing and having there clear taken away.

Questionable move to kick without discussing with the static? Depends how you feel about the zoomhacks and how far diplomacy truly would have went since you state that progress was good.

Good move? Probably. At worse you just scrubbed your progress instead of taken away by a mad 3rd party. Might take a rep hit due to word of mouth but nothing loss if you don't approve of mods and those who use them.

The ultimate question is how do you feel about this. Yeah it might take a little longer to get the win but if you feel like you made the right choice then you made the right choice. Don't let other people dictate how you feel.

You do realize that no one outside of the one person that used the cheat got banned in the recent static debacle right? They don't ban everyone. Multiple members of that static chose to leave FF because they were shamed publically by Yoshi.

There's literally no risk for the other members unless someone decides to be a complete moron and stream them using the plugins which might result in the other members losing an item or a title. Even then, if you're not a big streamer you'll fly under the radar anyway.

This is such a large departure from the tone of these forums just a few weeks back

I could have talked to him or the other members, but I suspect the discussion would not be very productive.

I would have probably been told to get over it and that it's not affecting anybody and that everyone else does it too so it's ok

I would have been told he stopped using it, not that I care, once a cheater, forever a cheater. And I suspect I would see him using it again in a few weeks anyways.

I dunno why you put cheated in quotation marks. They just cheated. Simple as that. But yeh, maybe not a ban for everyone. Doesn't really matter.

Personally, I'd be annoyed if I did a hard fight and won only to find out after the fact that a few people cheated. Really lessens that achievement.

I'm with Y to the P on that one. Why do hard content if you turn around and make it easier anyway?

It is good to stick to your values. However its very clear that other people in the static did not agree, and you should acknowledge that. When recruiting members in the future, be sure to make it very clear that you are very strictly against using cheats like this. It's kind of sad that even needs to be said.

Personally, I don't see the point in undertaking ultimate content and then going out of your way to make it easier while you are playing it. This scenario in particular wouldn't even be an attempt at world first- there's no intensive rush, no 'upper hand' to get on your opponents, and no race. Using such cheats especially at this point is quite literally entirely just to make it easier.

Streaming with this kind of stuff in plain sight is also just rather careless, if you mean that they were streaming publicly, they could've easily been mass reported by viewers (as such instances have occurred in the past).

I do think you should've talked more with your static however, ideally to get their perspectives, and even talk to the culprit themselves before you kicked them out. I think you did good to kick out a cheater- but as a group, its important to make sure that everyone's voice can be heard if you want to work as an effective team.
