I'll address this comment because it feels like you took what I said out of context, I even pointed out some jobs were struggling such as Machinist, Red Mage and reaper.

My main point is theirs not been a massive shift in recent balance in 6.2 It's more Visible with the new DPS check, the job balance hasn't always been perfect from expansion launch, you only see more of a outcry now because it's more of a hot topic, Its never been "great", it's just been "decent" at best in terms of balance, All jobs can still clear that is my main point, no one really is being forced off a job unless it was week 1/2 p8s pre-dps check nerf.

People are generally being very vocal about it and acting as if it's something recent but theirs always been a differences in jobs that are pretty big making one generally the "weakest" in it's category, the ranged tax is somewhat too high ect, the fact is you still can clear with any job so the balance isn't super broken, but could use some work.

I just dislike how you take the first three words I said and go "no it's not" like yes the balance isn't perfect but this is very disingenuous to anything I said when I even pointed out that some jobs weren't performing as well as they should be.

Huh. Wasn't actually expecting that; I figured that Eden would still be considered one of the harder raids. Good to know; I was planning on running Reaper for that one, though I'm still going to be grabbing the best gear I can get for the job before jumping in.

That, and I hope I can find a group for running the raid; last I checked - which was actually quite a while go, admittedly - you couldn't matchmake for Savage content through the Duty Finder, and none of my friends play FFXIV these days, so I'll try and see who I can find. It'll be a while before I can run the raid regardless, so I'm not too worried right now.

Tbh I think i'll give up on raiding current stuff this expansion too and go do Eden instead. This whole situation kind of killed my enthusiasm.

This is well said, if the DPS check wasn't that tight, less jobs would have been locked out of PF.
Not even MCH.

Before 6.2, the mentality was "You can clear with all jobs but some will be harder to clear with".
After 6.2 barely anything changed except the new mentality: "You can clear with all jobs but some will give you a very bad time.

It's still harder than most MSQ instance but not harder than the story trial for example.
If you go in Synchronized then yes it's going to be hard. But since your objective is the cosmetic, you don't have to do it the hard way.

Simply put, you go into a hard boss battle but you're overleveled and overgeared.

Of course, play how you want to play, but trying to chase the FOTM is not generally a good path for enjoying an MMO (or any online game, really). Balance patches will change things over time. Also, the forums/twitch/discord wildly distort balance issues - you've already missed week-one clears, so any job is fine.

Doing great. I've mained NIN since I started playing FF14 during ShB, and it's still the class I have the most fun playing - that wouldn't change if another class started doing 1% more damage at the 95th percentile.

With due respect; you guys are the only part of the community that I'm willing to interact with. The Reddit and Discord communities I find frustrating to work with, and in the actual game... well, I've certainly had some fun moments, but I've also dealt with a few too many ERP invites due to me playing a Hroth. That, and I still don't have a keyboard hooked up - I'm on PS4 - and with my current situation on my end, I won't be able to pick one up for a while.

Afraid you misunderstood me, slightly; I'm only grabbing a "meta" job for the sake of getting the Eden mount. Once I got the mount, I'm swapping right back to RDM; to put it politely I fucking hate playing the so-called "meta" in any game, regardless of genre. Frankly, I have more fun, and success in some cases, playing how I want to play - whether that's making a F2P healer hilariously overleved for the available zones, or playing Sniper on MvM, I find going with how I want to play being far more rewarding. Besides, I was going to be leveling one of the melee DPS jobs anyway for the sake of a character build; all's this did was move up the timetable a bit.

Glad to hear that. With all of the negativity that seems to be endemic to the community these days, it's very relieving to see someone with a smile on their face. Also, Ninja; good job choice, haven't done much on that one myself as of yet, but I'm going to try and make some progress once I get a melee and RDM all sorted.

Honestly, I'll say what I always say - Play what you like. You'll always perform better on a Job you enjoy and have a good feel for.

As for balance - People make WAY too much of a deal over it. While there is one particular outlier (MCH), every other Job is more than functional (even MCH is) and aren't really being denied entry into parties, especially once the content is a few weeks old or more and people have geared up some.

Literally the only time it matters is within the first 1-3 weeks of brand new content, for world first race clears (which are almost always done within 1 week anyway), and MAYBE for Ultimates, where RDM will always be welcome anyway since it's so great at helping push Prog/phases.

So play what you like, ignore the community being a bit TOO hyper-focused on balance and the meta. Nothing's not viable, and people really need to step back a bit from that cliff. :)

If you enjoy RDM, keep playing the job. The balance with RDM has always gone up and down every expac so it will surely get back to middle of the pack at some point. I've played it since it was introduced in Stormblood and I've continued to play it through all its ups and downs. With MMOs it's important to remember that a job normally won't stay in a bad place forever so I wouldn't avoid a job just because it's not currently doing great. And people are still playing it and using it in end game content, it was actually the most desired caster for the latest ultimate when that ultimate first dropped. (when I was looking for a DSR group I put that I could play NIN or RDM, every single group wanted me on RDM) It's also still being used about as much as BLM in this savage tier, SMN is only significantly above the 2 other casters in representation because it's the one caster that's punished the least for moving a lot.

And fortunately at this point in the tier gear can make up for jobs that are under performing. So unless your plan was to do speed clears or something, RDM will still be able to clear the content. This tier was just a weird one because the dps check for the door boss was unusually tight compared to previous tiers. I don't see that situation happening again any time soon. Obviously I don't think RDM is in a great place, but it's also not worth giving up on a job you like because it's in a rough patch atm.
