They may as well drop swiftcast along with it. :p Sure, i can use it for an ifrit nuke, but I have less of a need for that than rezing.
Some people actually like having that utility. If that goes, people will start looking at other jobs.

I guess I missed the part where I was talking about ShB SMN. SMN does need more 'freedom' but just adding in oGCDs won't accomplish that, it'll just extend your list of things to brainlessly mash in your free instant casts under Bahamut. The whole rotation is a vapid disaster that starts to feel like shit the second a boss is untargettable for more than 1 GCD, and feels boring otherwise. Adding cast times also wouldn't help as there are already 9x more spaces to weave than you need. It's garbage from the foundation.
To not be too negative here are some things I like about new SMN: I like G, I, & T Astral Flow, and that you can theoretically hold the ability past the Arcanum duration. I like the idea behind Gemshine, it's cool to get your abilities buffed by your summon. I like that the raidbuff was moved from pet delay to just originating from the player character.
...The problem is you can't hold an Astral Flow because a new summon erases it, Gemshine is just Ruin 3.5 in 3 different equally boring flavours, and the raidbuff doesn't need the accuracy of timing properly because it lasts 30% longer than any other raidbuff. Every part works against the other parts of the kit, all while Summons are at their most boring (from a gameplay perspective) ever. It needs another rework. Seeing as everyone parades classic FF Summoner as a reason for the rework, why not full commit, classic Summoners had huge rosters of summons by comparison. If every FFXIV summon is going to be a reused asset just start dumping them in with different effects. Repurpose the Aetherflow gauge to be the summon resource instead of the 600 potency resource. Be creative with what effects the summons have and how much time you need to maximize that effect. The sky is the limit with a DPS class, so why is this SMN what they came up with.
It is not that you were talking about smn shb, but I have compared the two in terms of simplicity and both cases the smn has never been difficult. Not considering how much the shb smn was a jumble of random things.
When I mean ogcd they don't necessarily have to be ogcd of pure damage but that benefit those who use them in the right way and at the right time. I would also like to clarify that the ogcd you would not throw them under bahamut, also because the buff windows start when bahamut usually is at 7-5s but you would use them to make the burst phase much more intense and if you have many different ogcds the burst phase becomes intense adding complexity on which one at that precise moment is best to use. to then use the rest at a later time and avoid doing nothing between one gcd and another. This does not mean that the problem is only the ogcd, but currently except fester and the shield we do not have many others (not considering that of titan which as far as I'm concerned could keep it on the same key since it is consequential). 'Freedom' I mean that some spells should not be direct consequential of others but should be left to the intelligence of the smn. Stupid example but to make it clear: Why do I have to tp if I have no good reason to do it other than the mere fact that either I do that or I do that? Give me alternatives! Give me the freedom to choose! Give me the freedom to choose when to heal, give me the freedom to use my spells however I want! Give me alternatives to have crossroads. And since currently the smn has 20 levels less than the others intended as rotation, spells could be added to give a semblance of freedom. Obviously I don't expect them to do anything during these patches, perhaps with 7.0 (?), But if they free the ogcd and hot of phoenix, I'm already happier. How happy I was when they released the buff from carbuncle. Having said that, as a 70 class it is good because the basic idea is good and the spell and conceptual set is not bad, having said that it is not a complete class because it lacks spells which make the class more free to be played
Tangential to smn but as a rdm maim, if smn loses resurrection I want rdm to lose verraise.
