Awesome to see replies!
I can attest that this has been happening since the 16th May (housing maintenance), at the worst my wife says five times in one day and happens every day without fail. I don't last five attempts because I get annoyed now when it happens once or twice in close succession.
To add to this, it did happen prior to the 16th May maintenance yet only very occasionally.

Server - Bismarck
Chipping in on this one, here's everything I've compiled thus far;
- Disconnections to the server prior to the 16th May maintenance (reintroduction of housing lottery) have been so rare over the course of my many years playing this game, I can't recall the last time I disconnected from the game outside of an ISP-related outage in the early hours of the morning (Very rare).
- Since the 16th May maintenance, both my partner and I are timed out for about 5 seconds (everything in-game freezes), then receive the 90002 error at the same time.
- The frequency of these disconnects is, on average, around the 1 hour mark. However, this varies based on the time of day/night.
- Attempting to reconnect back to the Materia DC after a 90002 disconnection results in a 2002 lobby error.
- Attempting to connect to another DC after the 90002 disconnection error doesn't result in a 2002 error, however. I used Elemental as my example for this, as I used to play on Typhon.
- Further digging into this issue from recent posts here and on Reddit; the common thread appears to be the housing patch and the Materia DC. Every report I can find of this issue (Since OCE servers were released), the player reports that they are on a server in the Materia DC.
- Both devices are running ethernet.
Troubleshooting Steps
- DNS Flush, Release, Renew, All that good stuff.
- Winsock Reset.
- Disabling any form of VPN configuration on my Ethernet adaptor.
- netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Clean Boot
- Factory reset of router.
- Isolated environment (The only device currently connected to my modem is my PC, no in-betweens, no other devices).
- Confirmed DHCP Lease renewals don't line up with disconnects (Mine are currently set to renew every 24 hours at around 2:00am).
- Extensive packet loss tests during the time of my disconnects - 0.1% PL at absolute most.
- Configured Port Forwarding for FFXIV (PC) on the following TCP Ports: 54992-54994, 55006-55007, 55021-55040.
- Full reinstallation of FFXIV client, including clearing out additional directories such as "My Games\FFXIV - ARR\" which contains both .cfg files for launcher and game.
- Disabling UPnP both router-side and within FFXIV.cfg
- IE configuration suggested by SE Customer Support.
- ISP contacted and confirmed the information I provided them showed no indication that I am dropping anywhere near enough packets to cause a 5-10 second hang to a game server, followed by a forceful disconnect.
- Tested 3 different VPN services.
Out of all factors involved, the following hasn't changed;
- My PC configuration (No driver updates of any kind, no Windows updates, nothing).
- My Router configuration (Firmware is set to a manual FTP upload and has been since day 1, so it can't automatically update)
- My Network Infra (No additional devices have been added to the network that would interfere with anything inbound or outbound, such as a FW).
- Applications (Every other application functions as normal and I never experience disconnects or hitches in connection - squeaky clean).
The following has changed;
- FFXIV client files - Patches.
- Housing Lottery System.
- Data Center Location - This isn't so much that it's 'changed', but rather it's a brand new DC which may be experiencing issues outside of norm, due to a number of factors.
Honestly, if this was investigated and a statement was released that showed there to be no issues with the Materia DC, at least we'd know where we stand. But at this stage, there's way too many stories lining up from various posts I've found in the past few nights troubleshooting this and they all lead to dead-ends.
Which can only lead me to believe that these issues just suddenly 'stopped'.

I’ve done exactly the same as your post. It’s pretty common it seems
-
- Are you using a wired or wireless connection? WIRED
- Do you have any firewalls or anti-virus software installed on the machine if are using a Mac or Windows PC? If so, which ones do you have installed? BITDEFENDER ANTIVIRUS
- Internet Service Provider MYREPUBLIC AUSTRALIA
- Location/Region you are in (Not in game, your actual location) SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
- Does any specific error message/code occur when the issue happens? I GET 9002 AND GET BOOTED AND THEN I GET 2002 WHEN TRYING RELOG, KICKING ME FROM THE GAME ALTOGETHER, FORCING ME TO RESTART THE LAUNCHER
- Does the issue only happen with one specific character or a certain time frame? IT BASICALLY HAPPENS EVERY 40 MINS EVERYTIME I PLAY. I ONLY HAVE 1 CHARACTER

Hey all, yoshi posted about connection issues recent. Please go submit there too :)

Reporting back after the most recent post from Yoshi-P noted above by Affective Gnome. Whether it was a stage of my troubleshooting that fixed it or just pure coincidence, I've not been disconnected once in the past 7 hours and neither has my partner.
Purely speculation, but it's hard to believe the two aren't connected in some way. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has received a 90002 in this thread since that Lodestone post too.

Got disconnected after the post last night, unfortunate but im glad your connection has improved!
and again today :(

any news on this? the problem continues to plague me. i dropped twice already in the space of an hour

It's not resolved for me, all that's changed is that they're 90006 errors instead. Does seem to be super inconsistent though, and weirdly enough the chat works fine before it kicks me out.
Could just be screwed up wiring somewhere with all the awful weather though I suppose.

i still got the usual 9002 and then 2002. And now i just got 9001 followed by 2002.
In the middle of crafting which lost me quite a bit of gil.....
