Private housing is in total shambles

22 folks bidding on plot 1 in ward 19 on balmung as of this post. 1/6 chance is a godsend. The downside is that you can't change the one you bid on after the fact, which would probably have helped even the odds across the plots.

RMT is going to be as lively as ever, and more safe with FC transfers whether it takes more time or not. FC transfers were already preferrable because of the lack of risk. That would be an awful reason to make this decision. It would be just as scarce a problem as people trolling by relocating to a plot that's going to end its bid (because it would be a literal gil sink, and obviously could be handled on a more case by case basis), but nonetheless, there were no readily available transfer locations at all. Not even one. If there was actual trolling, a GM should get involved.

This wasn't a problem before, and it shouldn't been a consideration now. Placard spamming was a miserable issue, not transferring from a small to a medium/large. Lotteries should have been the solution to just one, not to both.

To buy a FC house should have more restrictions.
Like, the FC needs to have 5 lvl 50+ unique member who are in the FC for 30 days and with a active sub.

You could go even further to guarantee the biggest houses for the most active FCs.
So you can only get a medium house when you have 10 active unique player and a big one with twenty.

By doing this you drastically reduce the amount of reseller.

RMT was a problem before. It will always be a problem as long as there are more players looking to buy a house than there are houses available to be purchased.

The lottery does not stop anyone from relocating. It only means competing against others instead of it being whoever runs to the plot the fastest (which was frequently RMT due to their methods for monitoriing vacant plots. I don't know if you were around prior to 4.2 but I was. I clearly remember what a mess it was when RMT didn't have to fight a timer.

That's not going to reduce the resellers.

That's going to reduce the number of small but legitimate FCs getting plots.

Getting characters to level 50 is pretty trivial effort, especially if you're a reseller using a bot to level them. Those characters are going to be on accounts with active subscriptions since they have to be online to be moved into their new FC.

Terrible idea, you'll just have unscrupulous FC leaders bombarding everyone they can with invites just so they can get their mansion.

The problem is the abysmal shortage of housing in this game, and now this has been exacerbated by allocating so many wards to FCs when the bulk of the demand is and always has been for private housing.

I'm not a fan of the lottery at all. It is marginally better than what we had for new players, but much worse for those who had managed to buy themselves a 'starter home' but now cannot easily transfer to somewhere more attractive.
The poor design of the wards is an issue most people overlooked because transfers existed. Now we have a situation where the more desirable plots are always going to attract huge interest and the chances of moving to one is going to be very, very small.
Most plots seem to have been plonked down randomly on the map with absolutely no regard for the view, or easy access to amenities. Grabbing one of these in the hope of transferring later was something most people could stomach and it was worth the extra gil. Getting stuck on a small, poorly positioned plot with only a tiny chance of ever getting something better is not going to feel quite so good.

This new system isn't fair, it's just unfair in a different way.

Except none of us is complain about the lottery. Instead it's been a relief to be able to just place a bid and go on to enjoy the new content instead of hammering the placards.

Instead, we are protest against the lopsided allocation of wards towards free companies which was only thrown into the playerbase on patch day with no pre warning.

i say this as someone with a private small

private non-instanced housing was a mistake

27 already on plots I mentioned in my original post. When I captured those screenshots it was just 1 hour into the patch.

I think a lot are going to wait till the last hour before they put in their ticket. I know of a few who are so they can see the odds they are up against and pick different plots accordingly depending on the kind of chance they want.
