Alliance roulette changes is needed

After reading this i obviously recognize it at any time it happens. It´s not only alliance raids, it´s normal raids, trials, pretty much everything...

SE should really do something against it. I´m personally tired of Alexander too. Shouldn´t be so hard to bring ppl into everything possible based their class-level and not gear-score right?

I think with those the biggest problem, rather than gear cheesing, is the influx of new players the last summer, which made the game have waaaay more sprouts than veterans.
I actually think it got a lot better since EW, since a lot of veterans returned and higher level duties actually also pop, but in the period before that it was impossible to get anything above 50 in levelling and trials, and anything above alexander in raids.

I've gotten Orbonne Monastery, Orbonne Monastery, and Puppet's Bunker the last three times I've run it. I agree with the comment above that the xp should somehow adjust for the typical time to complete, but I'm not sure that wouldn't start making people drop if it WAS CT.

One of the issues with that proposal is that it could work only if you have completed MSQ and are levelling alts but if you are working on the MSQ it is easy to over level and still be stuck in the previous expansion while the new ARs, class quest abilities and gear (unless you use the MB) are still locked behind many quests (gear unlocks only at the end of an expansion).

I recently started a new char and that’s the issue I have. It’s not that I don’t want to do the other ARs, the game won’t let me regardless of gear as I am still in ARR post msq yet am lvl 60+ due to various boosts, doing daily roulettes and the Moogle Treasure Trove event. Even without doing all of this and just sticking to MSQ, it is pretty much impossible to not over level.

That being said, I agree, I would like more variety on my main. Void Ark has been popping a bit more lately but other than that, other ARs show up very rarely. If I want something else, I usually select a specific duty after doing the roulette but queues can be pretty long sometimes. Surely there is a better way to balance roulette.

But why. Even if crystal tower wasn't mandatory for the story (which, let's face it, is a huge contributing factor since you don't even have to unlock the other alliance raids unless you really want to do Bozja.) it'd be the most done because it's fast and easy, making it the most rewarding. The problem is that the other raids simply aren't worth doing in the vast majority of circumstances, and the few times they are, like relic grinds, you're just going to be queueing for them anyway. Trying to force people to play the way you, personally, want to play is never going to work and, in fact, kind of sucks because it's readily apparent that the majority of the playerbase doesn't want that or else they'd already be doing it.

The easiest way to incentivize it would be to make the higher level raids offer proportionately more exp than they already do to compensate for the time and effort involved in clearing them compared to crystal tower.

I wonder what is the proportion of lvl 80+ players that don’t have them all unlocked? It could be pretty high as this content can be easily skipped. That is probably a major contributing factor to the other raids not popping.

As someone has already pointed out, people would probably just end up quitting roulette as is already happening with Castrum Meridianum in the MSQ roulette. A separate roulette for CT and another for optional more advanced raids? That could perhaps provide the incentive to do CT which would help new players and to also unlock the other raids.

Although not roulette, now that Bozja is used purely to lvl up alts, I don't see any incentives to do Castrum, Delubrum, and/or Dalraida either. Sad to see those options being wiped out of the game because of that.

Hugely flawed approach...

You can overlevel quite easily, it's not uncommon to see people be ahead of the level curve, you'd lock those people out of AR-Roulette on their main job until they complete ShB?
Not to mention what would happen to mixed parties? do you just prevent high level players to queue w/ low level ones?

How about we go at this from the other side - the CT ARs being stupidly easy & fast in comparison to the other ARs due to item level syncing?
Decrease the synced item level, and increase the health pool of the bosses & enemies,
because at the moment you have content meant for roughly item level 50-70, with 24 Players around the item level 110 mark.
This leads to bosses not even being able to execute their mechanics before they just fall over dead.

The comparison with Castrum is very flawed. Castrum is 20+ minutes of reallt hectic fighting, where everybody makes an effort to play in the worst way possible, and with cutscenes interrupting mid-combat. It's hell tbh, and it rewards like 30% of a level of xp or so, even running a dungeon at your level is more rewarding. Praetorium instead is 10 or so minutes of fighting, and the rest of afking, and the fights are 0 effort and super chill, all for a whole level of xp or almost. They're just awfully balanced, cause if anything Catsrum should be the one giving more xp.

While right now, CT raids can be super short (especially if Syrcus) and require pretty much no effort, and they give the same xp as high-effort raids that can take up to an hour if things go bad. If xp was given based on that, it would be super fair. People would still run CT raids , cause short, easy, required for msq and even needed for relics now, but at the same time everybody other AR wouldn't be as dead as currently. And maybe people would start learnign the mechanics in them too and not do such a mess in them, making them less painful to run.

Really they just need to adjust the rewards based on dungeon difficulty and length. If Nier gave twice as much exp and tomes as CT I'd be a lot less annoyed seeing it in roulette.

I realized the other day that I don't have Void Ark unlocked at all and haven't been bothered to do the next quest in the Alexander line since all I get are the same two encounters each time. I really should get those quest lines completed on the off chance I'll actually get one in the roulette.

On a related topic; I got Pandaemonium circle 2 in the Normal Raid roulette the day after completing circle 1. A number of us, including me, had never done it before and boy, oh, boy did that suck.



Regarding XP rewards; any trial or normal/alliance raid boss should give XP equivalent to the final boss of the dungeon at the character's current job level. For example, if I'm on my lvl 88 BRD and get LotA, each boss in there should give me XP equivalent to killing the last boss of the level 88 dungeon.
