That's what I did too.

Skip cutscenes and dialogue. The story is honestly not really that good in my opinion. I much prefer single player final fantasy stories, but that’s just me.
Grinded it out in two 20 hours sessions in interest of avoiding spoilers.
Had off from work. Ignored everything except MSQ. Stuck to only my main job. Took about 40 hours of gameplay total.
I ate and slept like normal, no issues bypassing the queues since I started in the early mornings when queues were tiny. Only had one boot from the game where I had to wait in the longer queues during the process.
So it took 2-3 days. the MSQ wasn't that long to finish. Didn't have to skip any cutscenes.
Took me from early access until yesterday, playing when I could. I took my time and didn't rush the story, because I love the characters and the world. My FC had people that finished it very, VERY fast. I could have blitzed it with a day or two off work, but I wanted to let the story "breathe," take it in, and experience it.
My only hang up was in the last MSQ dungeon, which had a couple of boss fight moments that took me completely off-guard and caused me to log out for the rest of the day.
Game dropped on a Friday (early access) played from as soon as I could get on the server 1am Saturday until I passed out, repeated for that full weekend, was done with the story, no skips, no side quests besides aether currents on Monday Morning around 11am. Took 2 days to recover emotionally. Then spent the remaining time leveling one class for each Role Quest, finished those last night with White Mage. Now to level the rest of the jobs to 90, and get all the Shared Fates finished. Then I will farm Zone 6 for a TV mount.
100% dis agree Endwalker is the finishing story of possibly the best single player RPG story I have ever experienced. As a huge Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, SW:KTOR, and Jade Empire fan I put this game above anything from Bioware, and you know why, I took my time reading all the quest text, and realized what was going on the whole time I have been playing since 2015. I can't name another RPG or JRPG that has caused as many emotions in me as FFXIV.
