Blaming COVID makes no sense because that would assume literally noone is working on the current server issues in the US and especially the EU.
Unless it is a new data centre new servers mean nothing. They cap the login server at 17k. If they added more worlds instead of being in X que, you would get the 2002 crash over and over.
People say SE has told stock holders they would pay whatever server cost is. No one says when they ordered or where they are the list.
Well maybe it is time to consider another data center for the US because the numbers and money they are making clearly justify it especially for the EU that is dealing with 10k queues and have had issues for months.
This has been a slow moving train wreck everyone saw coming.
EU would be interesting to know. Over the life of the game SE has been very fiscally responsible with servers. I wonder if EU is still on some of those servers? Would EU want another data centre? They complained when they got two. And for NA they would have to restructure the three they have. I am guessing Gilgamesh would have to go to a new data centre, with new worlds created their. Would players accept this?
I mean Aether has been locked to new people for MONTHS. That is a pretty damn big hint that we have serious problems here right now that are not going away. So unless Endwalker sucks which given my experience so far it is AWESOME this MMO is going to continue to grow big time.
I agree. With the influx of new players from the continuing WoW exodus especially, SE should have been more than prepared for increased volume already. This launch should have been smooth. COVID, chip shortages, supply issues, whatever excuse they use, it's unacceptable that the queues are this high, especially for subscription players.
New World launched in the middle of the pandemic and I don't see them complaining about Covid semiconductor shortage. Maybe SE should ask Amazon to hook them up with their provider.
Except it's not "now", it's "8 months ago". Literally on the thread title.
