I would love to see some outside instanced stuff but at the same time I don't. This is based on previous experience with FFXI and voidwatch, when you popped a nm you would go to an instanced area in the world and fight the NM. However you would get terrible lag from all the other mobs in the area.

This is the kind of standard stuff Elexia is referring to and funnily enough is much more unique than what we currently have.
That being said I think the reason why our current dungeons are so copy and paste is because of development time and resources, its easy to reuse something than to build it from scratch especially when its not necessarily going to be around in 2.0 -

Also, if they do go on this instance rampage, they better make em stupidly complex where a few can get through the last stages. We also need mazes where you can get lost in and all that crap. Though either way an open world maze would be 100xs cooler
