It won't be. Ruin 4 proc is 60s duration. Energy Drain/Siphon is also 60s. Stacking doesn't look to be an option.
It wouldn't necessarily be more punishing, they could just change the name and animation and it'd please some people.
For Bard, all their songs interact with their dots and those two abilities also interact with dots. Refulgent Arrow has a chance to proc from them starting at lvl 76. There is very little in Bard's kit that doesn't interact with their dots or interact with something the dots also interact with, it's all connected pretty well. There are a lot of thematic inconsistencies though, kinda like poison-based dots were for SMN.
ShB SMN very much has two separate ideas going on both thematically and mechanically, they cut out most of one of those ideas and left the rest without tying it in somehow. As for how Aetherflow could be made to fit with EW SMN well there are tons of things that could be done, at the end of the day the job just needs some ogcds one way or another, they don't have to involve Aetherflow.
Without butchering the idea too much though since Aetherflow is still a remnant of Arcanist, Fester and Painflare could simply be made into ogcd versions of Gemshine and Precious Brilliance. That's very redundant design though. A third more generalized spender would be nice, maybe something more niche. To take it a step further the ex-egis have attunements for some abilities so Aetherflow could work with that to give extra casts or empower them or maybe attunement is something that starts at zero and we have to build up over time rather than getting it for "free" upon summoning something, then maybe we could have more control over how long we use each summon depending on the situation. There's all kinds of things that could be done, the moon's the limit.
I’m at a absolute loss here as I enjoyed the complexity of 5.0 SMN even it was trivialized from 4.0. But here are my major concerns
SMN in 6.0 has bar none the shortest list of skills outclassing the Maven of mediocrity MCH. Which concerns me as MCH has the better progression kit since it’s 50 base is more or less unchanged for 30(40) levels and I doubt SMN can embrace this as this is the best outcome tbh. Yes it doesn’t evolve for expansions on end for new players but the alternative is playing something incredibly half baked and bland like the runner up of dunces DNC with a worse progression kit but a better complete one.
Does it even feel like summoner? Most of the gameplay it’s just they are their for 2 seconds and leave while you use their aspected attacks. I think the community is too drunk on the visuals to see how shallow this looks and so far all the media tour patrons are literally trying their best not to gloss over how easy and afk it looks. Which may give RDM a run for its money.
Also the future, I’m aware MNK got a adjustment too but I’m starting to think reworks are something I don’t want anymore if it just dumbs down the job with thunderous applause so long as it’s visually pretty. Is this the future you want? Which job is next BLM with homing ley lines?
I think it’s basically just like a new job. New jobs are usually really simple. They’ve basically taken the job to the basics.
Think about how straight forward RDM and DNC were on release.
I think the rotation is going to be fairly simple, but more complex than people think. 7.0 will build on this new base that they’ve built
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you. We’ll be pressing a few buttons a lot.
That being said each of the summons is it’s own button. Summon Garuda is a 700 potency spell.
Summon ifrit is another spell.
Each of the primal phases are within these 60 second windows.
The rotations within the primal phases are slightly different as well.
I fully plan on continuing to main SMN this expansion.
