I feel like the actual glasses are one of the expensive crafted glamour items my retainers have come back with at some point.
OP if you haven't already, try to get your retainers to max lvl and gear them up a bit. If you have them as DoW or DoM jobs you can usually do this with duty drops for free. Then send them out on quick ventures regularly. Each one lasts about 1 hour but they bring back all kinds of random stuff along with house pieces I'm pretty sure they pulled of someone's house on the way back when they realized they didn't have anything. It should help a little at least with the money issue though the rate of income is going to be random and luck based.

I'll have to keep that in mind! Know that's a thing but I just never done it myself. I'll work on that when I get other stuff I want done!
That's kinda my issue: I wanna RP, wanna do trials for mounts, wanna do old raids for the heck of it, wanna MSQ...Got a lot of things I wanna do without being maxed leveled and a lot more I gotta unlock!

I'm happy you got your shades! There are definitely some very kind and spontaneously generous players out there in Eorzea. I remember one time I was hanging around Buscarron's Druthers and some lala opened an unsolicited trade with me and handed me a cookie and a cappuccino just out of the blue. I don't know if they were RP-ing as a restaurant server or something, but it made me smile. Another time, somebody just shouted out in Gridania chat asking if anybody wanted a free Antelope Stag mount. They wound up giving it to me, and explained it was from some kind of Lv.60 area, noting that I would probably like it since I was leveling my crafting. So, I told them basically the same thing as your thread title, I would pay it forward to some other player some day! Gotta level some more yet, but I won't forget it!
(Out of curiosity, I checked the market board for the antelope mount and it wouldn't exactly break my bank, but that's not the point. They still could've easily sold it for a fair chunk of gil, rather than pass it on to a random stranger.)

What a great story. And the shades look great!
