My vote to whatever made/is making “The Sound”.
Is it Sin? Lavos? Ultimecia? I dunno.
Alexander Prime's Divine Judgement, or the Warrior of Light's Ultimate Crossover, as the only attacks in the game that require a tank LB3 to survive, would be my guesses. And Alexander is holding back, since he's trying to test us, not murder us. So I'd probably give it to Divine Judgement.
Also, his second casting of it will bypass the LB and wipe the party anyway, but I wouldn't consider enrage mechanics to be canon. It opens up too many fridge logic holes about why the boss just didn't do that in the first place.
I'm crowning Krile and/or Taturu. They beat Estinien, that makes them Top Bosses. Whatever move they made to drag him down - calling it Hot Gossip - is the ultimate LB3
That just shows us that Estinien types are weak to Krile/Tataru types. I mean, we beat his butt in the level 50 DRG genkai fight for Dragonfire Dive. :P

I think there's a very important divide to be made in this question.
1. Most powerful thing, ever, in the game's history,
2. The most powerful thing around right now.
So, the most powerful thing to have ever existed? That was probably Zodiark, but his form of power was very broad and indistinct. 'Rewrite the rules of reality' is very grand, but ultimately it gives a very wide set of skills, which is likely why he lost out to Hydaelyn--a much weaker entity by all evidence, but with a very focused skillset of 'beat the snot out of Zodiark'. I wouldn't even put 'the thing that made The Sound' in the same category, it sounds like that was more a 'let the dominoes fall' thing where it did something fairly small that escalated.
As for right now, though, present-day? If we're allowing them at the peak of their 'while in the story' narrative power, the crown probably has to go to either Midgardsormr or Omega, but both of them have been pretty spent as of the end of the Omega questline. Alexander was mighty, but is sealed in time right now, and possibly forever. Eureka's power was theoretically infinite, but it's likely dead. So as to right-this-moment, I might actually give the crown to one of the First Brood.
I kind of forgot Omega is still alive and just keeping a low profile as Alpha's robot buddy, which makes me wonder if perhaps it'll still have some role to play in the future.
Even if its new body is bereft of nigh all of its original functions, it's still an absurdly advanced AI with potentially huge amounts of knowledge stored in its data banks.
I thought Alpha's robot buddy was a fake.
Is it implied (or otherwise explicitly stated) that this is somehow the actual Omega? Or were you referring to something else?Quote:
This's a model Omega that Wedge and I were working on.
We built it while we were resting, thinking it might be useful for figuring out strategies or something. Not much use now, I suppose.
...
It's just a toy that'll follow you around. If you're happy with that, then it's all yours.
That final cutscene still tugs at my heartstrings, though.
As for most powerful thing, I wanted to point toward Ultima, but neither spell nor high seraph proved to be anything but disappointing.
Midgardsormr is probably up there, and he's definitely not "spent." He's just napping. Source: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes.../#sidestory_08 Fun fact: This story also mentions the replica Omega.
However, I would still say the greatest threat we're aware of would probably whatever star was at war with the Dragonstar, if they're still around (I don't recall). Omega is scary, but it's just a weapon.
I'm replaying the ARR MSQ with a couple of sprouts from my tabletop rp group and following one particular cutscene, and our baby WHM's frustration at not being able to heal the npc involved? Being roundhouse-kicked into a wall is obviously the deadliest of all attacks. Therefore the most powerful thing in FFXIV must surely be legs.
Look at the short story in that same line, "A World Forsaken." It is told from the perspective of the "fake" buddy. Omega is very much still functional. Also for the Alphascape Savage, he actually planned ahead and left the WoL simulations of him with even more power or whatever, so there's that.
Also if both of you look at the benchmark, Fandaniel is going to making use of a model Omega, likely a replicated version that's not truly Omega, in Endwalkers.
