So then we haven't exactly heard from a native Garlean, so it COULD be possible that mixed blood Garleans could have a 3rd Eye. And maybe Severa's helps her with manipulating aether better on top of spatial recognition? Black does tend to contain all colors in a light spectrum, so it helping with magic would make perfect sense, and also be a showing of why the Garlean's 3rd Eye is normally white, they are devoid of it (white is devoid of color) and thus can't manipulate it.

If I remember correctly, we are given snippets of information that some of the "greater" nations from back in the day had other races among them besides the primary one. This goes for Allag as well. The primary race were Hyurs, but I think Elezen and Miqo'te made up part of the empire as well. How they were treated is a different story.

As for Severa, I wouldn't say she's a retcon per se. More like she's another subtle piece of information given to us. Genetics are wierd, and how they choose to show up is wierd as well. For all we know Severa could be 3/4th Garlean, maybe her mother was already a half-breed. But I think she's more a clue as to how "little" the other races know about breeding.

I'm sure elezen made up part of the Empire considering how present they are in Eorzea and Ilsabard, but so far every Allagan we've seen is hyur and there's been no mention of the elezen yet so I didn't mention them. Miqo'te themselves were kicked out of Eorzea early on during the Empire's growth, but got swallowed up by them in the end anyway when they expanded into Ilsabard. G'raha's ancestor was a conscript from the edges of Ilsabard.

In the end I'm sure we'll learn more about the Allagans in EW and what connections they may have with the Garleans, if any at all. We're going straight to the heart of Garlemald and while it's been exploded, I'm sure we'll learn at least tidbits of who the Garleans are and where they came from and what things mean regarding them.

I wonder if their origin might be connected and explored more with that Laputa like zone shown in the fanfest, as shown on the map of the three continents it is around Garlemald and it could be Allagan in Origin similar to Az Yzla.

There's also that sidequest node in Azys Llla that mentions the player's race, and implies that every race currently playable was known to and part of the Allagan Empire at one point.

We've got no info on overall founding race though.

I actually have a headcanon that if Xande (and Allagans in general) were Hyur, it was only Hyur base, and by the time of Xande's resurrection and invasion of Meracydia, they had altered themselves as a trivial operation to be whatever they wanted. (Hence why Xande and Amon were huge.) Kind of like "I'm feeling Elezen ears and Miqo'te tail today, let's hop into the household aetherochemical contraption for a minute, okay done".

(On a completely unrelated aside, I'm feeling a little fidgety over your character icon on the forums at this time, because that red flower on your sunhat keeps reminding me of that red Discord Notification.)

In regards to the Garlean third eye, it’s supposed to be an organ that greatly increases their spacial recognition making them better at flying airships and shooting guns. It’s also supposed to be hard like keratin. Only pureblood Garleans are supposed to have it, and 3 half-Garlean NPCs are definitely missing it, but a half-Garlean in the Werlyt quest line randomly has one so I guess that’s thrown out the window now.
