Alliance raids have no business being a relic step.

I had three stages of my relic going at the same time, the Law's Order upgrade for my Talekeeper Recollection, the Augmentation for my Samsara, and the Vexatious/Harrowing once-per-character step before I can augment my Law's Order Revolver, and even then, I was only getting any significant progress on Samsara, because Castrum had fired immediately before I had joined the instance.

Why? It’s not like the relic has ever been a challenge. It’s just a testament to having a lot of time playing the game.

I agree from a story perspective it would be better in Bozja but the relic storyline has never been good, because it’s just an excuse for some crazy grind quests.

You haven't been in this game since 2.0 then if you are complaining about this.

Relics are YoshiP's way for end-game level players to help fund old content for newer players. Trials, alliances, dungeons, fates, skirmishes, bojza...the list goes on and on.

Got to factor in the hour wait for Castrum, the length it takes to run it and the likelihood of failure.

I’m imagining Sycrus tower with close to instant queues is still going to be some way quicker.

Agree that if you’re in Bozja anyway you may as well, but if you were powerlevelling the relic you’d probably be done by the third castrum pop.

No, I haven't been in this game since 2.0, and if I had, I would have quit already, the FF14 dev team clearly doesn't think before they act, and besides, the previous 2 relics didn't have any old content (eureka weapons) or minimal one-time investment in old content (Anima weapons.) And the ARR relics didn't have any old content associated with them because there *was* no old content for them to use, only current content.
The Resistance Weapons are the first time in modern FF14 that have required almost exclusively content from previous expansions. (the only current content that is an intended manner for progression, defined as having reasonably high drop rates (north of 50%) for the progression item, is the most recent step of running 15 (!!!) Delubrum Reginae)

Bit of Napkin maths, but the sum reward for doing all relics would net me around ((17*15)*100)+((18*2)*100)=29100 Poetics, not inclusive of any bonus I may get. That is enough to get me through an Anima weapon and then some. Sounds good to me!



Can't you solo unsync Garuda Extreme though? Takes like 70 seconds, and grants around 1/3 the light comparative to the ARR Alliance Raids, no?

I found doing Stone Vigil the fastest(longest average run was 3 min 15 seconds...on BLM/SMN that wasn't even geared with anything other than Eden Verse gear). It gave Brilliant light(48) per run without bonus. With it was Blinding(96). Definitely was faster than Tamtara or Garuda EX.


As for the grind using the alliance raids...the hotfix somewhat changed that, you now get 5 of the Loathesome memories per clear of Castrum, and they also increased drop rate from CEs. While still not 100% drop other than Castrum, it is an improvement.

They've got some semblance of life these days because the FF14 team has been raising them from the dead constantly by adding them as required steps for more and more things.
