Not to mention turning things like Extreme trial totems and such into currencies. Why should I need to keep all these memories of different types in my inventory when farming Bozjan relic weapons? Or Atma for Zodiac weapons, or Bozjan coins, or Manufactured/Puppet coins, or Emerald totems for the eventual mount (because the idea it can ever drop feels like a base and blatant lie), or whatever.
Yes, that's a non-zero amount of effort -- probably a lot larger than zero, at that -- compared to the current system of a far more limited number of currencies, but if you design an easily-extensible currency system, then so, so many reputation items and whatnot would be freed up.
Mind you, this is me speaking as a player. If I approach this from a developer perspective, the idea of reworking inventory that way makes me want to hide under my desk and cry. Sooooo I won't be surprised if such a reworking never happens.
(Alternatively, put the memories and totems in such into Key Items, if we aren't getting those inventory spaces for general inventory. That would likely take considerably less effort.)
