For some reason there are people who are REALLY deadset on pressing 1-2-3 and are vehemently against pressing 1-1-1.
3 button presses either way, but one has 3 dedicated buttons and one has only 1 dedicated button.
Maybe, JUST maybe if they actually did that, SE would have a reason to stop taking away abilities, repackaging them and giving them back to us at later levels.
You can add complexity while still having fewer main combo buttons. You named a job that did this before. MCH has always had it's 3-part combo since it's conception yet you said it used to be complex so this means the main 3 part combo didn't add to it's complexity. So they could consolidate the combo into one button and then give us two more buttons in their place. (Also could you tell me when it was complex I don't recall it ever being but its been years)
What about a button that just completes my whole rotation, too? PVP is already not as engaging because of this combo button nonsense. It's also rather insulting that they force us to use it.
I've never had a problem using my buttons, and if the issue (and it is) that pressing 1 - 2 - 3 is mindless, then what we should be asking is why is game design bad?
If this is the only reason why they aren't combining them into 1 button, then it's a bad reason. Forcing something that can be done with 1 button into 3 different buttons ONLY for the sake of making it less intuitive is just incompetent design. If you all think that challenge=pointless inconvenience then maybe they should also disable the num pad, and not allow shift/ctrl/alt variants for each button. That would be a pretty effective way to make the game play worse for no real reason.
I don't want to spend the day spaming the same button for my GCD rotation, it's dull and it's not feel rewarding to play in a game like this, for me for example i hate inner release window for that same reason and are saddly everywhere now but i respect have a job or 2 that follow this like BLM but for the rest? never, we need more gameplay complexity not reduce everything to spam a button and use ocasional oGCD, i personally tired that everything need to be reduced to the most lower end floor and then start digging to lower it even more and i say it as a controller user.
And there is still room to add/upgrade skills, for example every job that use the combo system could get finally a upgrade to the lvl 1 combo started (except DRG who already have one) and add more effects to the second combo step and stuff like that for no mention there is still jobs with skills that have lack of impact or are extremly situational for nerfs or just bcs overall poor desing.
