For some FCs, it's not about the cap. It's about logging in and seeing other members online playing the game instead of the FC roster showing a bunch of "last online 210+ days ago" in addition to the half dozen or so who have logged on recently. When the bulk of the roster is a bunch of players who have stopped playing, it's pretty demoralizing for the few who still are especially if they're new to the FC.
Still, FCs vary in how they handle it. Some are more tolerant of long breaks than others. Our FC gives players 6 months, longer if they keep in touch through Discord. If someone does get removed for inactivity but returns to the game later, we're happy to invite them back if they want to rejoin.
If your current FC is on the intolerant side, find one that's more tolerant. Keep in mind that might change if the FC leadership changes in the meantime.
Everyone has their own idea of what's enjoyable and there's nothing wrong with taking a break if you feel like you've run out of things to do. To stay busy I have alts, help run hunt trains and work on Expert crafting achievements. I also have other games I play on a semi-regular basis though I spend most of my time in this game. Expecting one game to be enough to satisfy all your needs is unrealistic.
