You paid for a product and received everything you paid for.

It is not fraud for the producers to change the contents of the product for other people who will buy it in future.

What's the actual problem here, and would it be a problem if they'd simply added this story as new MSQ+dungeons in 5.3?

I meant in the sense that this book's intent is to not have MSQ ARR content block you from extensions. CT is side content, but it is ARR. That's why I think it's a grey area, even moreso that they seem to have acknowledged it since NOW, the book also unlocks CT.

That's the intention, yes. But in any case you paid for a story skip to the start of Shadowbringers, which is not gated by CT. And presumably used it at a point where CT had not yet become mandatory with the release of 5.3.

If CT was required to start playing 5.0 and the story skip didn't complete it for you - dropped you at the start of the game and said "oh sorry, you'll have to go do something else immediately first" - that would be poor planning. But that isn't the case here - they've only introduced the requirement later, and changed the product to reflect that.

I'm having some trouble with getting a group too - i'm on my third day of trying - currently sitting at 48 mins waiting. I can confirm that the language tip that was kindly offered doesn't work (for me at least) all of the other language selection options are greyed out.

I just want to say that I really love this game and so far the story surrounding the Crystal Tower has been really compelling. I also totally get that the story in this quest line has strong relevance for Shadowbringers and that the devs want us to experience it as a result.

But if this is mandatory specifically because there is story relevance - then surely a better option would be to either completely nerf it so it can be experienced solo in some way, or just create a small vignette or cut-scene to fill things in? It just feels like we're partially going through the raid mechanic motions for the sake of it.

Make sure you have the "join in progress" option selected, too.

Just to make sure: You didnt manage to check the other language options? As in: You're still only queueing with one language selected?

Did you look in the right place to change your language settings?
You need to open the Dutyfinder Window (where you'd queue up for content), click on the little gear in the top left corner and then you should be able to just click on all the languages right at the bottom of the menu that opens up - if they have a yellow/golden border around them, you have successfully selected those languages. Hit "Ok" to apply the changes.
