Wasn't talking to you.
Then you would be wrong. Static instances are much more intensive to run, especially when each city has forty-two static instances of dynamic content (player yards and house designs) that has to remain persistently loaded.

Yeah, server power is definitely THE issue, but they sort of designed themselves into a corner. Short of a complete overhaul this is the system we have and probably will have for a long time. SE is probably trying to make the best of it. I just don't think the game gets enough funding to give the housing system (or any system really) what it needs more than once or twice a year, so even when new wards and plots are added it is really just too little way too late.
No, it wasn't. I quoted MariaArvana, and you responded to what i said to MariaArvana, so unless you're MariaArvana, i wasn't talking to you.
No.. its not less intensive. You seem to have a fundamental inability to understand that keeping an instance up and running 24/7 demands more resources than loading an instance server on demand for a limited time. The majority of the game would not be in housing instances, especially if they dealt with other problems that lead to keeping on-demand instances active (ie. logout timers).
Sure, but when you say "you were talking to me" and i quoted someone else and responded to what someone else said, i think its pretty obvious to see that i wasn't talking to you when i made a reply.
And I think its pretty obvious that this comment isn't directed to Vahlnir who posted something a few posts up, we can all tell that i'm responding to you, MrThinker. (just using you as an example to make a point Vahlnir)
I'd like to give people that much credit.
You are acting like people don't afk in their houses for days at a time. 2 larges have more customizarion spaces than an entire ward.
A few people in houses at a time is equal to the requirements for wards, in terms of instance capacity.
And you were responding to someone else, making a false assumption on what they were saying in response to what I said. Me correcting you is a valid thing to do.
Sure.. aside from directly mentioning logout timers in an earlier post, i'm acting like people don't afk for long periods of time; though, i will give you a pass because i added that in a moment after initially posting, so you didn't see that.
Anyway, that in itself is a problem that needlessly taxes the instance servers; reinforcing my point that they are going for bandaid solutions instead of directing their attention to core issues that create problems.
I think the simple fix is to limit housing to free company. Stick individuals to FC rooms and apartments, but add room for garden plots and one chocobo stable to apartments, and maybe enlarge the size of apartments/FC rooms a bit.
