If this game truly listens to it's comunity PLEASE make Viera able to wear head gear!

Can't say I know Square's development team composition, but I kinda doubt they have an entirely separate team for just the Viera (who have presumably been twiddling their thumbs since ShB release?). The new patch needs new art as well, including new armor pieces from the new raid and dungeon, so overlap is possible.

I highly doubt a few armor pieces are what is holding the next patch from coming out. Art assets are usually done way before any other system.

How can you assume they HAVE A SEPARATE team just for the Viera. No one demanded a change overnight for the Viera looks. I am 100% sure they can work on it over the course of multiple patches AND NOT DELAY anything. I don't get it why people are getting mad and giving unreasonable reasons why changes should not be done to a specific race. Many people play this race and are not satisfied with how this it turned out, I pay money and invested lots of time in this game, I can at least ask for a change even though I may not get it.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be done. I won't even mind if it delays the next patch or expansion a few weeks or even months; I have heaps of other games I can play while waiting. But programmers and artists need to be paid, so a game development company won't let them just sit idle. If they've completed their tasks for the upcoming patch, they'll likely be fixing issues or doing other improvements. Perhaps Viera headgear can be implemented without delaying any patches, but it'll come out of something. We may never know what that something is, but new art won't just pop out of the void.

I don't think anyone can really say that Viera and Hrothgar were launched in a satisfactory state. The Devs themselves seem to be aware of this, and I'm sure they're working towards a solution albeit perhaps slower than we'd like.

I do kind of find it concerning that many newer headpieces remain incompatible; Simply making sure that new stuff worked would go a long way to alleviate some of the discontent imo. I'd also like to see a warning added to the character creator when choosing either race. I've had to explain the hat issue to a lot of bummed new players who notice they're 30 levels in and most hats aren't displaying.

Judging by how easily people are able to mod in missing hats / hairstyles in their freetime, I don't think it would be a particularly difficult task to outsource.

TBF Miqo'te have been around since 1.0 soooo they had a lot of gear made during the initial development when there was more resources avaiable, so using the Miqo'te as a comparison isn't really a good race to compare it to. Definitely not a good comparison.

But the devs did say headgear would be limited and the current availability was worked on people's free time and honestly Viera would look rather silly with a lot of head gear, but that is my personal opinion. If anything I would rather they make something more aesthetically pleasing for the viera and hrothgar to wear that is in line with the piece of headgear. If that makes any sense.

No, I'm not talking about FFXIV. I mean they've almost never worn hats or helms in any previous Final Fantasy game. I especially don't think they've worn hats in FFXII. I was disappointed by Viera because of the lack of head gear (and by the way they run) and not being able to use my acquired hairstyles was maddening.


It feels to me that the Dev Team rushed the Viera design and all we got was a half-hearted race that doesn't even have its own unique Hempen Camise/Pantalettes.


I hope the Director will see to this carelessness and fix Viera, also I'm pretty sure these won't be the last races in-game so I expect them to learn from their error and do a better job next time!.

I almost wish they had taken a page from Dragon Age Inquisition and copied what they did to get around the helmet limitations on the Qunari. The Qunari likewise can't wear many of the helms/hats in that game due to the variability of their horns, so instead they basically get face paint replacements that are unique to them. I think I'd be a lot more accepting of the limitations if we got something unique in turn. Not fully happy, mind, but at least finding helm glamour would be a lot more enjoyable.

That said their biggest mistake was developing Hrothgar and Viera at the same time. You could tell even in the promotional materials that they were being developed down to the wire. What with every Viera in the reveal trailer using the same base face and Yoshi-P admitting during the Hrothgar reveal that their look had only been cleaned up the day before. Frankly speaking they should have held onto both Viera and Hrothgar till 5.4 or even 6.0, so that they'd have had more dev time to work on them.

Those are slightly under HALF of available Viera jobs (and as such, available Viera sprites) in FFTA (with one of 2 new jobs in A2), counting the 2 jobs that have "a headband" (Summoner and Archer), then it's exactly HALF the available Viera jobs IN the game that ORIGINATED the race. Because they appeared in TA before they appeared in XII.
