For once its really out of their hands and if they had to make cuts or decide what content can wait, I'm sure that (sadly) a seasonal event was deemed less important than the next patch. I'm also sure that they would have loved to just continue their work as planned, but with lockdowns happening and people also not wanting to catch a virus thats possibly gonna kill them, there really isnt - or wasnt - much choice.

I'm sure they're not doing this out of ill-will or to withhold anything from us - development simply has slowed down a lot thanks to Covid19. We need to keep that in mind right now - the whole world is in quite an... unusual state right now and that includes the development of videogames.

Please, Square Enix, please Yoshi-P, please dev-team: Make sure you all stay save and healthy first and foremost - and continue to deliver content only in a way that doesnt compromisse that. At least I want less content if that means that the people who develop said fun content dont risk their health and safety.

Square Enix could at least be transparent with that.
They were with the delays, and the vast majority of players were understanding and sympathetic.
I myself would be fine waiting till October till patch 5.3
Going completely radio silent towards an annual event and not even mentioning a potential content cuts really isn't a good sign.

Secondly, my comment on less content was referring to Shadow Bringers is general, which has been ongoing and seemingly content starved well before the pandemic.
Down to only dungeon per patch, no deep dungeon, and relic steps that are essentially a relic grind have made 5.1 and 5.2 feel worse than any Stormblood patch for me so far.

There is a director letter coming first week of July. Won't be a live letter but with live letters the release was usually 10 days or so after the letter. We can hope what is the case this time as well. At the least they are planning on giving us a date for 5.3.
