There should be.
there should be, issue is what this time will be probably be released at a later time since, from what i read, dataminers didn't found any file related to it, so it might be there after 5.3
Yeah we would have been well into the event by now as the 2019 and 2018 campaigns went from June 6th to the 24th. I'm surprised there hasn't been any announcement regarding it yet.
Whether we get one of the MGP seasonal events this year or not, the current tomestone event is a pretty efficient method of acquiring MGP. 50000 MGP per 30 tomes, in fact.
The MGP event may have been cut for that reason, especially with other content already being delayed by COVID-19.

Perhaps they could run a bare-bones version of it? We don't need the usual event quest and NPC cameos, but they could still do the bonus MGP and reduced pricesand Rainmaker hair. Just so the annual event happens in some form.
It's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen, of course, and if they're going to cut any events from the yearly schedule then this one is a pretty easy target since it's not tied to a real-world holiday.

Not going to lie wish they would either allow people to obtain that hairstyle in an event or sell it on mog station I get comments all the time going I love your hair where can I obtain it and I have to disappoint them every time saying it is currently unavailable to be obtained. It is a weird outlier of event rewards as I have no clue why it has never been obtainable since its event. (Lisencing is moot since type 0 hairstyle and the others are freely useable, so I just don't know)Perhaps they could run a bare-bones version of it? Most likely will start once the ff11 event is over.
Please Square Enix.
The event is fun, I don't want even less content...
Less or delayed content is what we gonna get (or not get, I guess?) thanks to this little thing called a pandemic that forced the devs - like so many others - into Home Offices that needed a while to be set up etc.
For once its really out of their hands and if they had to make cuts or decide what content can wait, I'm sure that (sadly) a seasonal event was deemed less important than the next patch. I'm also sure that they would have loved to just continue their work as planned, but with lockdowns happening and people also not wanting to catch a virus thats possibly gonna kill them, there really isnt - or wasnt - much choice.
I'm sure they're not doing this out of ill-will or to withhold anything from us - development simply has slowed down a lot thanks to Covid19. We need to keep that in mind right now - the whole world is in quite an... unusual state right now and that includes the development of videogames.
Please, Square Enix, please Yoshi-P, please dev-team: Make sure you all stay save and healthy first and foremost - and continue to deliver content only in a way that doesnt compromisse that. At least I want less content if that means that the people who develop said fun content dont risk their health and safety.
