Ishgard was pretty easy up to now, but now...

Wow these things pay that much xp??? Geez..

Well, I guess its in line with what some of the leves start to pay around those levels..

I've been doing the level 80 Weaver, third tier and at 58 or 59(?) scrips per, that's a LOT of gathering and crafting just to get the emote or singlet, etc..

I was never a big fan of macros, but again I never really made things over and over and over.. once I got a good rotation for these things though, I broke down and macro'd it.

I'm avoiding those bleetle Glue becuase the mats are annoying to get, just do leves and grand company turn ins

Just do the one before it that only wants a chestnut lumber, lol. It'll take slightly more of them, but they're way easier to actually craft.

Agreed on the Lv60 crafts seeming far more efficient. Only two stacks of specialised materials instead of three, and you can buy some of the other materials directly.

Goldsmith calls for tallow candles (a cheap purchase from any material-supplier NPC at the major cities) and carpenter uses titanium nuggets, which are more expensive and purchased from the Vath tribe, but still an easier option if you'd rather buy materials than gather everything.

I hadn't realised yak milk was purchasable though - will have to make use of that and get my CUL up a few levels.

The one thing I don't understand about DoW retainer gathering is that while a miner can bring back 30 of any given ore, you get 10 of a monster drop even though many recipes take them same amount of items for the craft.

Some leather takes 4 skins, why does my over geared retainer only bring back 10 but I need 4 logs for a craft and my under geared retainer brings back 30...

It makes 0 sense.

Because the skins aren't locked to collection by a single specific class. Any retainer with a DoM/DoW class can gather them if they're a high enough level just as any player with a DoM/DoW class/job can kill the creatures who drop the skins. That creates a greater potential for more of them to reach the MB.

It still adds up quickly though if you send your DoW/DoM retainers to get them.

One thing SE has probably forgotten when setting up yields for higher level delivery ventures: At ARR levels, 1 skin would be turned into one leather so a retainer bringing back 10 skins was potentially 10 leathers (with the right alumen). Three logs or ore would create a lumber or ingot so a retainer bringing back 30 lumber or ore was 10 lumber or ingots (same net yield).

Then they started messing with the numbers in HW and that threw the yields off. We don't know what the coding for ventures looks like so it's possible the max yields on the delivery ventures can't be changed from what they are.

In theory your retainers are out there in the field mining, fishing, hunting, ect. Trees and rocks don't run away or fight back. The returns reflect the amount of time players take to get things, not how much you need them.

LTW was always a disproportionate class, all around.

It takes far, FAR longer to get the skins to make leather, but yet you still need 4 skins for 1 leather. If you're a BSM or ARM, you can grab 4 sands and an older ore and make a nugget, or 4 slightly higher level ores + old ore to make an ingot. These are laughably easy to do. If you're a CRP, you get 4 logs and make a lumber. If you're a WVR, most cloth only want either coccoons or plants to make their thread, with sometimes an older item like effervescent water. If you're a GSM, you need raw gems and a whetstone which is made from stone you can mine.

But LTW...

You need to get an alumen powder, and 4 skins. The 4 skins take way longer than getting 4 of any of the DoL materials.

IMO, LTW should only need 1-2 skins because of how much more effort you gotta put into getting the skins and it isn't like LTW items take less materials, no, oftentimes they take MORE materials than comparable WVR recipes. If you want to make a LTW armor, it's usually 2 leathers, 1 cloth, 1 thread, a gem, and sometimes a nugget. If you want to make a WVR armor, it's usually 2 cloth, 1 leather, a nugget, and sometimes a gem. The 2 cloth is far easier to get than the 2 leather, especially now with the 3 Threads change.

The least they could do is make it so you could get 2-3 leathers out of one recipe, if they think they absolutely must have you gathering 4 skins to make leather.

That's a poor excuse tho since I can gather 8 fleece from 1 sheep. If anything mob drops are easier to obtain if you want to farm them manually, at least in ARR zones, so having their amount cut by a third for a retainer makes no sense.

Likely its what Jojoya said and SE just didn't realize they changed recipes from 1 to 3-4 skins a pop, cause we all know how much they look backwards when going forward.

I think they just want you to go out into the world for leather.

Little do they know I'd much rather just farm it via retainers.
