Maybe this is why Afflatus Misery deals damage lol

Regen should be treated like a dot. It should have 100% uptime on the main tank. Regen helps you heal the tank while doing dps. You should feel bad whenever you let it fall off and don't quickly reapply it. Regen is often the best remedy for a dps got hit by something as well. As long as you know some big raid wide damage isn't coming up, regen should be enough to top them off. If they can't survive long enough for it to heal them then that's their problem.
I don't mind using regen but you will not find me upkeeping it needlessly. In dgns, that's just an invitation to get aggro mid pull. In raids/boss battles, if I know my party is not gonna get smacked by raid wide aoes for the next 15-30 secs, I'd prefer the conservative route and heal only as much as needed. This doubly goes now for shb where we only have 10k mana at any given moment. As a former healer mentor once told me: anyone can be a good healer. Not everyone can be an efficient healer. The distinction didn't make much sense to me at first but it became much, much more apparent later.
If I know the mobs will die before a new regen expires, I usually wont re-apply it because I don't want aggro from the next pull, but for the most part I keep regen rolling as I am able because it's very efficient healing and allows me more time to DPS. Regen keeps the tank healthy while I spam Holy... and I like spamming Holy. :P
I just start WHM like last week and by spammed dungeons, I've quickly gotten up to lvl 52. I've managed to pull aggro from the tank with regen at least 50 times already. It got to the point I went on reddit to ask when I was suppose to use regen because it kept getting me slapped around by mobs. I never had this problem when I tank, but it seems to be a common problem with most tanks leveling to 50.
I DO use AOEs. However, if enemies are scattered when they aggro, as then tend to be, my AOE range isn't enough to get every enemy before the regen ticks, and they instantly go for the healer, resulting in me stopping, back tracking, and taking back aggro.
So, ya know.. healers.. if you could just NOT throw regen on me mid-pull while I'm at full HP, that would be great.
-Queue as healer
-Wait until tank is just about to get close enough to a set of mobs
-Slap a regen
-Watch those mobs run to you
Here, I'd have a fancy flowchart but typically one of these two things will happen next:
A) Tank's not fast or does not react fast enough to aoe grab them and they take a good chunk out of you
B) Tank reacts quickly enough but since you weren't basically hugging him as he was running, they get a couple of yards in before they decide to run back to tank.
