MACRO:
/areaofeffect off
/action "Spell" <t>
But you cant target with macros, so you cant do /cure <p4> like you can in XI. Only good for <t>'s
Even with gamepad you have to enter, but i dont even use the AOE there, i dont even know how to toggle AOE with gamepad I just have 2 macros, one /aoe on, and another /aoe off which I use often to switch so the enter is a pain annoying choice.
I can understand it on somethings such as allowing you to toggle enemies prior to spell, it lets you have a secondary target as I could be hitting enemy, i hit cure, it switches to secondary target toggle, and I can pick a player.
But theres no need for it when using mouse + pt menu.
think ppl are just complaining for sake of complaining. I'm happy there is an extra set. It prevent spam casting. Dealing with spam casters is annoying as a tank.
tank: don't spam cast you gonna die
mage: but i get bored
tank: I can't control hate your doing too much damage
mob goes after mage and kills him
mage(KO): you suck at tanking, I died cuz you sucked.
tank: lol, told you.... shoulda listen.
tank leaves.
thats pretty much was a daily happening in ffxi befotre blm no longer was invited.
Or it was.
Tank > Please no AOE, It can hit through walls and the monsters link.
Mage> Ok wutever.
Mage: Casts Aeroga.
Worker Crawler takes 150 damage.

Tank> Fudge...
Tank: Invincibile> Run Away!
This is a good F** question!! Often times, I'll accidentally cancel whatever magic I was casting because the battle system still makes no g*d* sense. I'll be casting stoneskin, but the action meter says I'm casting the regular attack.
omg i know lol
I didn't have that happen too much.
It was more spam casting. sorry mages need a fail safe to prevent stupidity.
That's actually a good point, there is already a killswitch for spells in the game. If you try to cast the same spell, it will cancel the spell you're casting. So in that sense, having to press enter isn't really necessary.
Still, I like it. I can't even remember how many times I cast the wrong spell in 11 because I pressed the wrong macro. This makes it more difficult to mis-cast, it's pretty convenient for me.
The problem with the "killswitch" thing is the stupid menu lag, you usually dont get it if you just login and play but if you're like me who keeps logged in 24/7 then your timers get messed up and this causes action delay a lot of the tiime, SE seriously need to fix this as it drives me mad, the longer you're logged in the more your timers get out of sync and you will hit a spell and it will not do anything but then you hit again and cancel it because the animation sync is off. (or has yet started).
I can take only about 10-12 hrs before timers and related animations become out of sync, the stamina bar gets worse affected with it going from 100% to 0 on 1 skill then instantly back to 100%. The servers know if you can cast spell or not etc thats why every god damn thing has to alk to server because they cant make a functional working game.
