Why I have to press ENTER to confirm magic casting?

in other game I just lock on target then press the number on action bar to cast them

same as other classes in XIV they just press one button to use their skills

why only magic need to press Enter to confirm casting?

and pressing the same button to cancel casting is stupid, how many time I cancel my casting by accident

As someone with a 50/28 Mage I assumed you would have noticed you get the choice of using AoE (Conjurer) or Conal (Thaumaturge) which has to be confirmed -- How else would you cancel it? You can't interrupt the spell by moving so there has to be a kill switch somewhere.

I'm not a high ranked mage, but when i'm playing thaumaturge I find this feature really usefull when I'm going DD and I have to heal now and then.
When you have to confirm the cast it makes you select a sub target, so I can DD, cast a Sacrifice and come back to DD really quickly, without going mad targeting ^^'
Plus if you want to get rid of the confirmation you can use macros.

I never saw the need for this either, its just an unnecessary step IMO, slows down combat a bit for the spellcasters and is just irritating.

If you want a kill switch make it so that when in active mode AND in the middle of spellcasting hitting ESC cancels a spell in the process of being cast.

Targeting in this game is just bad and I know its been stated many times over. So many MMO's allow you to keep two targets (Friendly and Hostile) in much simpler ways. Such as, click on enemy, now your targeting enemy, click on friend now you are tar getting enemy and friend. Hit ESC once, drops enemy target, hit ESC a second time drops friendly target.

It is stupid, you used to didnt need to confirm when healing + mouse but now you do.

It frustrates me a lot, there is no need for it, they could add in an AOE icon just like the Target icon, you can use /aoe on/off to control it, there is no need for the confirmation at all its just another useless step SE want you to go through.

You could make other ways to cancel it, for example if its a spell make the icon have a "Casting" status in your bar, some circle maybe? then you just press the number again to cancel, it wouldnt be difficult.

You can also put your weapon away to cancel.

Especially with the new targetting system (that i hate to death) you can just set friendly, then tab to person you want to cure. But its ultimately still slow, you should be able to switch to pt list then go up/down.

I can't go in game to check right now, but if I remember correctly you don't have to if you're using a gamepad.

Because the AOE Modifier is selected after you select the spell you want to cast instead of being a modifier you can change back and forth between before you even select the spell.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I use a pad, and I don't have any problem.
If you prefer, you can use a macro. A macro doesn't need Enter.
