Not sure why they don't just let the ears clip through stuff in the case of viera.

They probably tried it and thought it was too ridiculous even for their own standards of not caring about how things clipped.
This is a strange conclusion. Someone who can design graphics for a head model is not necessarily someone who can design a job and balance it.
The difficulty of a new race has most to do with the time needed to make all the gear for it.
Yes they do... they don't look like Roe's to me and the run, walk and other associated animations look very very nice in my opinion. Relative to Viera I've been pretty impressed with the reveal trailer as well. I think we need to wait for the benchmark before making decisions and comments about the quality.
Relative to head gear didn't they say they would be working on fixing/adding to what is available post launch? One can see the difficulty in adding new races with the myriad of gear available in this game and having to adjust it for the new races. I do believe that is why the director has stated this will be the last race added.
I also think the new race could have been pushed back to later. I’d rather have quality over quantity, but I feel like this expansion is focused on quantity over quality. This leaves very few happy.
OMG.
Seriously OP, your statement makes no sense at all. "I'd rather have no new race at all because it's not exactly how I want it." That's ridiculous.
We can't eliminate all crime, so might as well have no laws at all.
We can't stop all people from starving/being homeless, so might as well have no shelters/programs at all.
Not everything on a restaurant's menu is good, so might as well shut down the restaurant.
Your post is the epitome of "taking the ball and going home".
This isn't at all what OP is saying, they just suggest pacing it a bit more.
Have you ever been to a restaurant that has a menu with like 50+ entrees on it? They're all not usually as good as a restaurant that focuses on 5-6 entrees.
It's quality vs quantity, not all or nothing.
He literally said:
"If things like this are too hard to add, I personally would rather have no new race at all."
Can't argue with his own words. He quite clearly stated that since they didn't implement the race(s) in the way he wanted, they shouldn't have made the new race(s) at all. Which is utterly ridiculous.
Those are not the same thing. When you have an expansion to release, you have a bigger marketing budget than all the other times. a lot more people are paying attention at this time.
Adding a new dish to a restaurant randomly does not have the same affect as when you expand to a second location and can advertise what's new at the second location that's not at the original.
