Well, if this is true FFXIV's staff can't just go "don't care lol", its not how compagny work its not a child-quarell about who play goalkeeper. Sure it sucks and we miss so many good games for this kind of thing but its what it is and its Matsuno right to have a word about how his creative property is used by other. Copyright, creative property and all this stuff are real things that sometime even need a law court to take action, its not childplay, its adult world dude.

again, lore cna NEVER be a way to limit gameplay, lore should be made to expand it. using lore as a reason to not add something like this is just a cheap excuse, even more if this is just miqo'te race lore all over again, and we know what happened there.

I would agree except this is literally borrowed lore with a borrowed race and matsuno doesn't owe this games player base anything. So it's not a cheap excuse and it has nothing to do with miqo

That doesn't make sense. Of course lore can limit things. You don't see carpenters casting Fire IV.

Edit: Also the catboy thing is very different, since the lore it not the same, although some parts are similar. Male viera are at least not nearly as friendly overall and quite possible very hostile.

If they had viera as female only and both genders of the hrothgar, then the genders would be unbalanced and still no one would be happy.

I'm disappointed too, but I was just saying what my thoughts on the situation were. I'm not going to let it get in my way of enjoying the expansion though. But I feel like this huge wave of negative reaction to viera/hrothgar/dancer/blue mage will make Square Enix re-think giving us stuff we ask for and end the end that's worse than getting something, but not the "ideal" something.

I rather have a lore staying somewhat true to the whole thing and background than one that changes on the whim of the developers because they implement the x-th silly thing they could possibly imagine.

A broken job can be fixed, but you can't fix nothing. AST needed an OP balance to get use, but HW was better for having them, not worse. I don't see how not having a healer is a good thing, and I don't believe then taking more time to work on a hidden healer job will make that job better. You need player feedback and data to get a job right.

There is definitely hope for full race options later down the line though, at least that's something. I don't have that hope for a new healer even in 7.0 right now if 4 years was too short to come up with a new healing job.

If the ultimate reason for these disappointments is "limited resources" then what can I say? I would question their prioritization but that's a whole other discussion.

Viera belong to Square Enix and Square Enix decides what to do with them. You don't want to offend Matsuno? You give us a different rabbit race that are no longer bound by that lore, like we got "hrothgar" instead of "ronso".

Excuses are excuses no matter how many of them you tell yourself.

that's not lore, that's logic and practicality. there's no story specifically written behind why Carpenters can't use Fire IV. the absence of lore is not lore.
