I don't feel this contributes to the issue either. We shouldn't compel the people who actually got what they wanted into the argument. The issue is deeper than just two races. It permeates pretty much everything SE does in FFXIV. Yoshi openly mocked the idea of him wearing the dancer attire. He openly said that the male devs weren't comfortable with the male bunny suit so they pawned it off to their female coworkers.
This issue has to do with how the developers focus more on what they want and are comfortable with than what their customers want. There's no adequate way to communicate and their excuse for why something isn't done is always "we're a small indie company please understand"
Even the Japan Fan Fest shows extreme preferential treatment with both the resources allocated to it over the other locations and how tickets were handled. I've pointed this stuff out for years but people are only now taking notice because it actually affects them now.
