Eliminating TP changes a few things by pure happenstance. You can take out all refresh abilities related to it, freeing up hotbar space for additional skills in 5.0. AST's will no longer get 'a definitely RR this card'. And it's a resource among multiple that will no longer need to be micromanaged with melee jobs as I believe they already have plenty. If they want to pacify weaponskills, I think the best way to do it is to throw in mechanics that need to be avoided, which we already have.
I can't speak for DPS casters, but for healers I rather enjoy having to manage MP. I also don't mind it at all on my DRK and it makes the gameplay engaging. Outside our primary roles, we don't have much to do other than add damage which doesn't have much of a gimmick to it, so keeping track of MP makes things a little more interesting.
On my NIN, the only time I have to even worry about my TP is when spamming Death Blossom. Even when revived during a trial or dungeon boss, it's basically wait a couple seconds to get a heal and then get back in there swinging. I feel that TP is an antiquated system carried over from XI and 1.0 that just needs to go away.
