And for saying a bad word in /say.
While I can understand wiping can be a stressful thing, for something like this, it’s hardly worth reporting the guy over. Being annoyed by it? Sure. I can sympathize with that. But reporting him for having his girlfriend take over for a few moments while he dealt with something IRL? Sure, he could have said something, but still. Hardly something that warranted a report to a GM.
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.
Holy beejeesus, the number of times I've asked my husband to watch my queue and drive my character if it pops while I grabbed a drink or ran to the bathroom... If it was against the ToS I should have been perma-banned years ago.
The problem with 'account sharing' does not stem from actually playing another person's character, it comes from sharing sensitive information such as payment methods, etc.
I get the feeling he needed to do something for a few minutes and for some reason rather than asking the group to hold up he gave his GF a quick rundown on what to do; and she either didn't care or was overwhelmed and panicked and stopped doing anything. Seeing as we/you weren't there we'll never know the full details.
Why do I feel like we all got baited..?
But naw guys, he was "cheating". Can't have any of that.
I think multi-boxing is a more legitimate concern then this, since I've seen those horror stories of doing it with several characters in PvP to create a wall of death that one-shots anything that gets near them, and it's also not uncommon for people to use it to run bots in the background while they play on their main accounts.
There are perfectly fine ways to use it (Such as transferring items between your accounts), but I feel like it tends to be abused for illicit purposes more often then not.
What would you have done if they dropped the controller or keyboard and stood idle while they did what they had to do? Report them for being AFK? Account sharing is sharing your log in information with another person and exists to protect SE in the event the person you gave your info to does something malicious. An emergency pass off to someone in the same household and based on the situation probably doesn't play so they probably wouldn't have the original players log in anyway isn't really account sharing.
You know what to do next time someone says "aafkmjlj.... sorry, cat walked over my keyboard". Report them for cheating!
Seriously though, not to sound harsh but please don't waste GM time like that OP.
